Newegg Botches AMD Xbox Pass Promotion, Starts its Day at 2:30PM

Newegg is not honoring AMD's Xbox Game Pass for PC promotion for some of the very first buyers of AMD Ryzen 3000-series processors. One of these took to Reddit to complain that Newegg started including the Xbox Game Pass with Ryzen 3000-series purchases only after 2:30 PM on the 8th of July (U.S. timezone not mentioned). This contradicts AMD's own terms and conditions for the promotion that define the offer period as beginning on 1st July, 2019, a whole week before Newegg began honoring its bundle. Another buyer reports that MicroCenter began honoring the offer 10 minutes into the July 7 launch. AMD is giving away 3-month Xbox Game Pass subscriptions with purchases of its AMD Ryzen 3000-series processors and Radeon RX 5700-series graphics cards, which gives you access to the Xbox game library, and includes the upcoming "Gear 5" if it releases during your subscription period.

Anyone saying this is a great giveaway needs to get himself examined. Fast.

A game pass... what's next, a free month of Netflix and a Norton Antivirus trial?

Fk newegg, they dont believe in customer loyalty. Not surprised they would do something like this.

You mean like when I ordered a 3700X, but they cancelled it with no notification whatsoever, b/c they're incompetent? I guess I'll just stick the other hardware up my butt for 2 weeks.

3 months of free game pass is all right. Hopefully there is no fine print that says you have to have it for another 3 months. I would just use it to finish games......wait I had gamer pass for Forza Horizon 4 and they wanted me to buy the game to complete it.

Nope I spent it on Humble Monthly :) tried it for about 1 month when it was on sale for $1.99 or something ridiculous. I was playing Forza but like I said it told me that I needed to purchase the game for $70 to finish it. I will probably be getting an X570 board or a new chip but I really have no interest in the Game pass promotion.

Wow, so they never even bothered to get truly generous with that, they just straight up try to rip you off. You played a demo version for 2 bucks, then, I guess... shit. At least Netflix gave me a discount when they launched over here in NL, and I could still access all content...

Seriously amazed at how far they go with that streaming/game pass business...

Exactly MS and EA share more than being in the North West. That is why I am with Humble Monthly. It definitely works for me. Sensua Hellblade this month and Kingdom Come Deliverance next month plus another 10 to 15 games all at $12 US a month.

True but it's still shady as hell, only got one thing from Newegg since they switched hands lost all in trust in that company a long time ago.

Guess I got screwed out of something free. Will Newegg make good on it or will I have to complain to get it? Not sure it's worth investing the time to complain...

Same thing happened to me. I literally just got off the phone and the refused to honor it. They told me AMD said they couldn't start the promotion until 2:15 pm PST. Not only that they suggested I call AMD. No thanks I'm not ending up in a never-ending circle of finger pointing.

Wow screw Newegg.

Newegg used to be the goto store for PC hardware back in the day but they just aren't the same Newegg as back then. It's a shame but things have changed. I haven't bought anything from them in years.

It was pretty much the only store i went too, even if the price was a little higher as they backed what they sold.

Were do you do these days ?.

Amazon. I can't speak for anyone else but I have had an exceptionally good experience with them. I received my present case and it had one latch that wouldn't work on the front panel. When I filed for a replacement they actually over nighted a new case to me.

I can only speak for myself over it - Doesn't matter to me, I would have refused it TBH and didn't see an offer when I bought my 3600X.

Too bad they botched the launch like this for the rest of you, complain enough and maybe they'll change their mind and do something about it.

They've actually done this before. Years ago, (maybe about 7 years ago?) something similar happened when I bought an AMD card from them (can't remember which one now) and they didn't throw up the promo until a couple days later. They refused to honor it but it wasn't the refusal that got me to stop shopping there, it was the tone of the customer service rep which was basically to go pound sand. I haven't bought anything from them since.

As for alternatives, I use Amazon, B&H, Fry's and Micro Center locally and even Best Buy occasionally. Hell, I'm putting together a 3700X build and had to grab RAM. I paid $5 more at amazon compared to newegg but I would have paid $20 more if it meant not giving them my business. Poor customer service is the best way to get me to shop elsewhere.

Thanks for saving me the time by posting here. I won't be doing business with Newegg anymore. It doesn't cost them anything to give out a damn coupon. It makes no sense what will it cost them a postage stamp and envelope?

Newegg fd up a hardrive I ordered and sent me a 1tb external when it was a 12tb internal drive... I got money back but they bullshit me they didnt want to honor what was listed. Shipped and sold by newegg is bullshit. The dude on the phone even told me I saved them from a major customer issue, yet they didnt let me get the drive I wanted.

Pretty sure Mcafee was getting forced on you when you downloaded Flash...
I’m loving Game Pass so far. It’s really cheap. I’m playing Metro sans Epic, trying out lots of games I’d never look at and Outer Worlds will be on Game Pass as well. It’s less than $5 a month undercutting all the other monthly services by a huge margin.

Man... I gave up on Newegg a long time ago. They just aren't as competitive anymore. I always get better prices on Amazon... better selection too. Not to mention all of the warehouse deals... aka damaged-box/new-open-box at half price with same no-questions return policy. If it's bad oh well... as soon as I drop off the package and it's scanned in (which they do immediately at pack n ship,) the replacement is sent.

Plus, if you shop online at all prime has you getting stuff next-day most times. I barely go to the store anymore. Groceries only. Everything else is Amazon prime. I've been free of Walmart for two years. No more popping in the store after work... none of the publics bullshit or underpaid employees giving zero fucks. Just order in the morning and have it when I get home from work tomorrow.

Just a whole lot of things Newegg can't offer there, even ignoring the fucky practices. Best of luck to em. I say throw up the 20 bills a month for prime and forget about it.

Everything changed when newegg 'sold out'. Their open box and refurbished is 5% off the normal price, rarely more than that, but, if you compare a lot of 'normal' prices, newegg is price gouging the shit out of everything, who the fk is gonna pay $700 for an open box vega card? is taking a risk on a used mining card really worth that much with 5700s expected to be half that? fucky practices indeed.
