MSI Radeon RX 5700 Mech OC Pictured

Another MSI interpretation of AMD's RX 5700 graphics card has been taken out of the bag. This time, on the form of the Mech OC series, which carries a dual-slot, dual-fan configuration not dissimilar to MSI's Ventus graphics cards, but with a darker color palette. The design is appealing, even if fully in plastic save for the backplate, which is full black and has some white strips to add a little more interest to the otherwise blank surface. The MSI Radeon RX 5700 Mech OC graphics card ships with 3x DisplayPort 1.4 and 1x HDMI 2.0 ports, and will join other MSI custom design mainstays in the company's portfolio for AMD-based hardware.

Well biggest pro going for it is being an ACTUAL 2 slot card, con is well... Let's just leave it at business practice... hard pass for me, no review needed.

MSI has always treated AMD sub-par. That's why I rolled ASRock and Gigabyte, they seem to be more fair to AMD overall. my 3 fan gigabyte 5700 XT has same cooler the 2080 SUPER has... exact same... quite nice, only $420, but $740 for the 2080 super... and its only 10-15 fps faster in majority of game at 1440p. i see no reason to pay extra $320 for 10-15 fps. only game it destroys me in is witcher 3 where it gets a 30 fps lead. but thats fine i will turn a couple settings in witcher since its only outlier.

they only asking $20 more tho, seems fair to me.

dunno for sure, but nvidia super cards with ventus cooler sell at FE prices.
this should be a logical scenario for amd, though in case of nvidia FE is better than Ventus, while for amd this is far better than reference.

to clarify Ventus is the exact same cooler for nvidia cards, just under different name and different color scheme.

The 1660 Ti Ventus topped out at 68C ... the Gaming X version at 67C

That's not been my observation .... going with TPU test results, MSI and Sapphire seem to come out on top more often than not. The MSI 580 Mech (66.7 fps in OC test) topped out at 74C and 32 dbA ...AsRock (63.3 fps) at 77C and 45 dbA ...Gigabyte at 74C and 34 dbA ... Sapphire at 75C and 32 dbA .... the Giga and sapphire weren't tested with the same test for overclocking so fps results are not comparable. Table of core and memory OCs ...

MSI RX 580 Mech 2 1540 MHz 2250 MHz
ASRock RX 580 Gaming X 1430 MHz 2230 MHz
Gigabyte RX 580 XTR 1460 MHz 2250 MHz
Sapphire RX 580 Nitro+ 1480 MHz 2250 MHz

Based upon TPUs test results MSI finished 1st or tied for 1st in core OC, memory OC, lowest noise and lowest temps.

sounds good! can't wait to upgrade to a high-end AMD card (higher than 5700 XT)

Just received an MSI RX 5700 MECH OC. To my eye, that backplate sure seems like it is plastic. The opening paragraph of this thread suggests that it is not.
