The Great Equalizer: KFC Unveils KFConsole Powered by Intel x ASUS, Cooler Master, Seagate (Featuring Chicken Chamber)

The dankest of memes has come out of the digital underworld to spread fear through all chickens out there in the world. KFC has announced the KFConsole, a development made in partnership with Intel, ASUS, Cooler Master, and Seagate, do deliver a console that "runs better than any other console" - which means bugs relating to chicken movement have been ironed out before release. The chassis is a KFC chicken bucket-shaped one, and is based on Intel's NUC 9 Extreme compute element paired with an unspecified ASUS graphics card - that supports ray tracing.

According to Cooler Master, the console supports 4K gaming, ray tracing, and supports up to 240 Hz displays. A 1 TB NVMe SSD is also inside, obviously. And KFC has found an ingenious, marvelous way to reuse all that wasted TDP that manifests in the form of heat with a purpose-built compartment - the Chicken Chamber), where users can download their chicken wings in the middle of a gaming session to heat them up via the power of the integrated hardware choices. A sure nail in the coffin for the current console wars - Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo must be collectively trying to fly away from this monster (and failing). And I can already hear the collective noise of scalpers rubbing their hands at feeding their pockets, and their mouths as well.

lynx29Do air fryers make food taste good? I read they are horrible... my Dad has been considering getting one though... any tips for us to get good taste out of it?
My sister has one, the taste is ok, not bad but "ok". I dont eat greasy things or dont add very much grease to any food or dont add some extra grease when I cook some eggs to the pan so it wont stick.
She mostly got it to make chicken wings since her husband loves chicken-wangs.

Some still spray a bit of grease on the food before frying

You bet it will keep your chicken hot, as it uses intel. :D

On a side note, did AMD give too high a price? When it comes to consoles, AMD takes the pie (or whatever KFC serve). Or maybe KFC were afraid that Ryzen gives Colonel Panic?
MIRTAZAPINEAnyone remember the 5.25 bay toaster?
Just look at Apple's Trash Bin (tm) and the Cheese Grater (tm).

We have an air fryer. My mom uses it for fries and chicken strips/nuggets. It definitely makes the stuff less greasy and nice and crispy. As far as taste goes, I can't help there, as I don't really notice much of a difference...

ViperXTRMore importantly

Will this be on stock and and not scalped?
That's plucked up for sure.

I hate to generalize but a lot of unhealthy and overweight people I see drink "diet" drinks

I haven't liked KFC since the Colonel passed.. just not the same.

^ Hey now! I'm not overweight and I drink Diet Coke almost exclusively because regular Coke -- like most "Regular" sodas -- is too damn sweet *gag*

Only that the artificial sweeteners are way more unhealthy than pure sugar.

I mostly drink water, I gave up any soda over 10 years ago, I'll still drink a Pepsi or Sprite maybe once every 5 months.

There are also those of us who can't have sugar and have to drink diet if we want a soda.

True. But that can be said if many, many things. As far as vices go, there are far worse ones.

True, but the convenience of simply being able go grab a can of soda without having to alter it further is worth it to me. There are enough options with stevia and other sweeteners that it's a lot easier than it used to be to find decent options.

They're convection ovens, actually, and do a somewhat (or hugely, depending on the model) worse job at it, too. Try roasting something that was supposed to be deep fried on a convection oven, that's what these misnomed "air fryers" do. That's what it tastes. Commercials that claim you can't tell "air fried" fries apart from actual frying are full of it. They're considered horrible because... well, they are.

And your mileage may vary, but most air fryer fans I've met think that frying things (actually frying them... on a pan, or a deep frier) is slightly worse, health-wise, than driving on the highway while snorting cocaine. With a loose feral cat inside the car. On a flat tire. Blindfolded.

People's standards as to what constitutes edible frying may be a bit skewed, in accordance to their thoughts on the alternative .
lynx29any tips for us to get good taste out of it?
Use it as a foot stool while eating actual food, prepared in the manner it was supposed to (be it roasting, frying, sauteing, whatever). Air fryers are garbage.

PS: And by the way I'm not one of these "real men eat unhealthy" machismo bs guys. I'm all for healthier eating. These things produce... edibles (barely) that are NOT fried and do not taste like they were fried. They're small convection ovens, not fryers. I can call my scooter a two wheeled airplane, too, but that won't make it any more of an aircraft.

nonsense to get people talking, like we are doing here, marketing tactic to make us subconsciously want KFC soon.

a good marketing tactic, since we are heading towards page 3... and youtube famous stars are talking about it.

I actually called up my local KFC (literally, about a quarter mile, or 402 meters from the house) and I used a serious tone-of-voice to ask when the KFConsole would be available along with if it could be picked up locally - at the restaurant. The employee had to get the manager and I asked the same question again. I got a moment of silence. Then the manager asked me what I was talking about. I proceeded to tell her about the new console that the company has made and if the executive, marketing, design, and logistics teams were on board with selling it for real.

Needless-to-say, I got another moment of silence. I told her not to worry about it and that I'd find out by calling corporate.

I don't know y'all...y'all think I was being a little unreasonable?

This thing explains why I chose a 65W 5600X CPU and eventually a RX 6700 or 3060 non-ti. At one point my PC was so hot I had to put it in the next room and run the wires though the wall. Even with air conditioning the thing caused an intolerable hot spot. I'm done with high tdp parts, never again.
