R600 is 80 nanometre

Fudzilla spoke with dozen of contacts and can now confirm that the R600 is a 80 nanometre chip. It is not 60 nanometre and it won't be 65 nanometre as going from 80 nanometre to 65 requires a complete redesign of the chip.

R600 was and is 80 nanometre and when it launches it will be 80 nanometre. Remember G80, GeForce 8800 series is 90 nanometre and it still runs great.

It looks like the R600 will be re-branded and probably cheaper than everyone expects but its very unlikely that we are waiting for G80 killer.

VR-Zone says that at the current moment, the R600 card scores no more than 200 points above the GeForce 8800 GTX in 3D Mark 06.

If that is true than the 8800 Ultra will prob. beat the R600.
That is a dissappointment, esp. since it was delayed.

200 points? thats it?

very dissappointing

isn't nvidia saying G81 will be out very shortly after ATI gets R600 out also?

Its still beat it though. I see probably 3 months, the 2900XTX coming out to combat the 8800 Ultra.

Lol... I don't believe VR-Zone... It must score much better than that or ATI is in deep shit.

If R600 barely beats 8800GTX, it'd better be cheaper.

dont forget ati is still creating drivers for the cards. give ati the same leway with driver performance that everyone did with nvidia. over the revisions since launch havnt the 8800's had somewhere around a 20% performance boost?

Alright I'll cut ATI some slack. But they better give life time warranty!

rumors suck, i'm tired of all this talk. We can decide how good the card is when we actually see some REAL benchmarks. Even the sites listed above are still taking hear-say information.

True.

We gotta wait then. Just like that Level505 site, we really can't take this info for real :nutkick:

Well, it appears that the R600 is going the way of the R500. Or the X2800 is going the way of the X1800.
The X1800 comes in very late (X2800 comes in MUCH more late), and yet still isnt better than the competition - 7800 (8800)
So then ATI have to make the X1900 (X2900) inorder to compete with the 7800 GTX 512 (8800 Ultra).

Well, i guess now we ought to be waiting for the X2900 or the 8900, cause who wants an X1800?

Its actually the x2900 thats being released, i dont think there is such a thing as x2800, atleast not from what i've been hearing. Maybe it will come out later as cut down versions of x2900's.

It's all about the R700 now, i mean come on, it's scheduled for 1st Quarter '08 already! The R600's are going to turn into the x1800 again, but why do I care? I don't buy crap when it comes out.

Stop posting this stuff honestly. AMD havent even released the card yet so stop posting this, there have been many benchmarks and they all conflict.

Man, guys these guys want more viewers on their web page. Why hasnt w1zzard spoken with any of these people yet? Its because they make stories up! Hexus and tom's hardware and us dont post this crap. So stop posting rumors.
