AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT Expected to Launch Solo, Without its non-XT Sibling in Tow

AMD is expected to debut its Radeon RX 6700 series with a solo launch of its top-spec RX 6700 XT, with the non-XT "RX 6700" following on at a later date, according to Cowcotland. As it stands the company could announce the RX 6700 XT at an online event on March 3, with availability expected from March 18. The French publication also reports that no more than 100 reference-design RX 6700 XT MBA (made by AMD) cards are on their way to France, and another 100-or-so custom-design cards. It's important to note here, that the RX 6700 XT and its competitors form the NVIDIA camp, the RTX 3060-series, are supposed to be middle-of-the-market products that are expected to sell the most each generation.

I hear a possible MSRP of $479 and availability will supposedly be better.....not sure what they mean by "better". Better than the worse than Nvidia's 3070/3080 quantities AMD had with their 6800/6800XT/6900XT models, even though AMD bragged about how much better their release was going to be over Nvidia?

This means the cards that are AIB will retail for at least $600-650 (most likely more, the price jump on the 6800/6900 models was outrageous) and then everything will get snatched up and hit ebay for the $1200+ range.

Well, it is a smaller chip. You can almost fit 2x more on a single wafer than a 6800/6900 and the yields are better. But it is still not enough to satisfy the demand.

You're forgetting that they also have to deliver chips for Microsoft and Sony consoles.

1. Yeah, they bragged and they failed too. But it wasn't worse than NV's. It was the same piece of $hit.
2. If the price jump on the 6800/6900 was outrageous, what do you think of the price jump on the 3080/3090? :D

That was just a reference to the die size between the two RNDA2 chips. Basically it's a 2:1 ratio between RX 6700 XT and RX6800/6900 which actually they can just stop making those for awhile and only make the RX 6700's for a period to fulfill demand more quickly. I'm not saying they will, but they could however maybe they will if there is more profit to be made selling two of those over one of the others between yields and volume.

I prefer the term Toilet paper launch. There are cards just not enough, just like the big TP shortage.
