TechPowerUp Forums Rewards—Win Steam Gift Cards Every Week & Every Month

TechPowerUp Forums is one of the leading tech communities on the web for gamers, PC enthusiasts, and everyday folk looking for answers to their tech problems. Our vibrant community has over 100,000 members, with more than 4.3 million posts between them. We want to give back to the community, by announcing the new TechPowerUp Forums Rewards. Already several weeks in the running as beta test, TPU Forums Rewards is an easy way to bag Steam Gift Cards, and possibly hardware prizes in the future, by simply participating in our discussion forums (where tech discussions happen).

The more posts you have, the more tickets (chances) you have. At the end of each week, the software randomly picks a winner (where your chances are higher with more tickets in play).

The number of tickets is subject to diminishing returns, to even out the chances—the exact algorithm is presented at the bottom of the rewards page. There's no need to sign up to the giveaway, every user is automatically measured, as soon as he makes a post in the giveaway period. Obviously we will not allow spamming useless content just for post count. As this system is new we'll keep a close eye on post quality, be very generous with our decisions and keep users informed transparently. We want this to be fun, not a constant source of drama.

A leaderboard page shows your stats, and how you're doing relative to the other members of TPU forums. At this time we're running two giveaways concurrently. A weekly drawing that gives ten winners each a $10 Steam Gift Card. The monthly drawing has five $50 Steam Gift Cards up for grabs. These are good for buying games, DLCs, in-game items, and a lot more, on Steam. From time to time, we may even give out PC hardware, the plans are already evolving for that. If you don't want to participate in this system, there's a checkbox in your forum profile settings to do so.

Visit this page to track the current leaderboard, and how specifically TPU Forums Rewards works. Drop in your feedback in this thread.

After a "great" start into an "awesome" Monday this was by far the best thing happening - especially as I never won in any raffle/etc. I participated in - ever. (yes, not kidding :D ).

So -> many many thanks TPU for "making my Monday great again" ;) :)

Don't worry, it could be worse. For example, winning without even getting in.

Those concerns, and more, were addressed in the beta announcement thread.

Well its not so much about it being possible or not, its more about avoiding putting in people's heads they they now have to leave a (pointless) comment on every article posted.

Change it to

'The quieter you become, the less you are going to win, but at least you can hear the rest cheering'

Well, I only ever do post in the news feed threads, the other sections, those I just peruse from time to time.

I mean I was doing this already...

LOL

As I said though, I already gifted the $10 I won to another member. I'm well aware I have one of the higher post counts.

Going by that metric I'm going to be giving away gift cards out of my own pocket... :ohwell:

i mean you are a supporter of TPU, you already give back. so no reason you can't keep it and enjoy yourself. I don't make enough money just yet to support things i want to support, there are a few small youtubers i'd like to support on patreon for $3-4 a month too, but yeah. not yet!

There is no such thing as a free lunch?
The "free lunch" refers to the once-common tradition of saloons in the United States providing a "free" lunch to patrons who had purchased at least one drink. Many foods on offer were high in salt (e.g., ham, cheese, and salted crackers), so those who ate them ended up buying a lot of beer. Rudyard Kipling, writing in 1891, noted how he:

...came upon a bar-room full of bad Salon pictures, in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts.

Don't feel bad. I usually only post if I have something to contribute that isn't just talking out of my ass.....in fact, this is kind of a pointless post so I'll just stop here and go back to reading.

I’ve just been here since pretty much the doors opened. My “quantity” is just purely based on “time served”

That's really nice of TPU. Though I can see this becoming a nightmare for moderators.
