TechPowerUp Forums Rewards—Win Steam Gift Cards Every Week & Every Month

TechPowerUp Forums is one of the leading tech communities on the web for gamers, PC enthusiasts, and everyday folk looking for answers to their tech problems. Our vibrant community has over 100,000 members, with more than 4.3 million posts between them. We want to give back to the community, by announcing the new TechPowerUp Forums Rewards. Already several weeks in the running as beta test, TPU Forums Rewards is an easy way to bag Steam Gift Cards, and possibly hardware prizes in the future, by simply participating in our discussion forums (where tech discussions happen).

The more posts you have, the more tickets (chances) you have. At the end of each week, the software randomly picks a winner (where your chances are higher with more tickets in play).

The number of tickets is subject to diminishing returns, to even out the chances—the exact algorithm is presented at the bottom of the rewards page. There's no need to sign up to the giveaway, every user is automatically measured, as soon as he makes a post in the giveaway period. Obviously we will not allow spamming useless content just for post count. As this system is new we'll keep a close eye on post quality, be very generous with our decisions and keep users informed transparently. We want this to be fun, not a constant source of drama.

A leaderboard page shows your stats, and how you're doing relative to the other members of TPU forums. At this time we're running two giveaways concurrently. A weekly drawing that gives ten winners each a $10 Steam Gift Card. The monthly drawing has five $50 Steam Gift Cards up for grabs. These are good for buying games, DLCs, in-game items, and a lot more, on Steam. From time to time, we may even give out PC hardware, the plans are already evolving for that. If you don't want to participate in this system, there's a checkbox in your forum profile settings to do so.

Visit this page to track the current leaderboard, and how specifically TPU Forums Rewards works. Drop in your feedback in this thread.

well, I'm mostly here for the news and the GPU Database. I'm good at data analysis but when it comes to modifying or tinkering ... well there are more knowledgeable people here than me. maybe i'll write more in articles that interest me.

I've got nothing on-topic to say. So I'll mention it's goodnight time for me here but the acid reflux in my stomach is making my life miserable right now. Shouldn't have eaten that chanchur in the evening, fml.

Fascinated by the behavioural dynamics this will drive, ie. before average post count on the forum, after average post count on the forum, before average new members per week, after average new members per week.

This is why I have been a forum member here for years. You guys always try to give back to the users who make this community great. I won a power supply here back in like 2009 I think? Ever since then, I have always kept techpowerup as my home page. I don't post a lot, but this is making me want to be more engaged here again.

Yes it does, for reviews, too. I still have to add code so that the first post in a news thread (by the news posters) isn't counted

VulkanBrosI guess my signature "The quieter you become, the more you are able to hear..." is going to a stone on my foot, in this case :wtf:

I managed to win twice, and it's not even rigged!

A lot of effort went into making sure people who spam posts wont get any extra benefit, the main key is being an active user - not a post spammer.

And for those without a Steam account and don't wish to have one?

paypal is an alternative, w1zz is open to suggestions - we just dont want it to be plain cash as that can set off weird alarm bells with various banks and so on (or cause huge delays and difficulties in sending out rewards)

There was a thread on this for a while with all the testing, info and feedback - it's just gone onto the news feed now, as it's been working out well

nice but a post can contain only a smiley to be counted...

Another factor that should be considered is the length of the post. Some users put in a lot of effort to write long and detailed guides that are spaced far apart and should be rewarded for that. Could and should the character length of the post somehow be included in the final tally?

Correct, and if we see you're only posting smileys, you'll be excluded from this system

Just found out about this. Interesting way to increase actual active participation. I guess I'll just continue to read, and respond when I can add something to the conversation. Thanks again for the heads up.

Nicely done @W1zzard and TPU staff for getting this going, this is my go to site for years and now we get rewards :)

Edit: is there any way to view previous winners?

Yeah, go to the rewards stats page, there's a dropdown under week/month that lets you select previous date ranges
