HP now Sells the most pre-built PC's; Puts Dell in second place by a considerable margin

For a long time, Dell has enjoyed the "most pre-built PC sales" crown. Now, it seems like HP, with the right combo of advertising and good products, has called snatchies on that crown. While a lot of factors went into the specifics of this little title change, I'll shorten it. Quite simply, HP now has 19.1% of the PC market, and Dell has 15.2%. We'll see if this trend continues, or if Dell has some sort of ace-in-the-hole to combat this recent lapse in sales.

My school is in the process of upgrading their PC's and networking equipment (we always are), and all the stuff we've been getting in is HP/Compaq. Excellent build quality compared to the around-6 month old Dells we have also.

Just today I was setting up a new Compaq for a teacher (got in around 8 of these this week)-
Core 2 Duo E6400
2GB ram (didnt check speed)
80gb sata HD
Nvidia Quadro NVS 285
Lightscribe dvd-rw drive, both HD and these are sata.

Pulled a 26s superpi 1mb :pimp:

not bad for stock settings and probably infineon ram (if its like my compaq x gaming pc that is). HP actually makes some great computers (so does Compaq, even though I used to call them a bad name ::rofl::). Dell sat on their laurels and started not caring about their customers, something they were obviously very good at one time. Im sure Dell will cook something up, but HP is making great pcs more affordable with alot of extras. Check out their website, they alway got something great going on over there.

I assuming you mean older Apples, cause most of the new ones do have Core 2.

Hmm... Remember when HP got caught for sending spies into other companies a few months back?
Guess it paid off

I think Dell is the best OEM PC manufacturer.
