ASRock Launches 13.3-inch Display for Mounting Inside the Case

A while back, some ASRock motherboards showed up with an eDP connector, which seemed odd, as outside of the embedded market or notebooks, eDP isn't commonly found. ASRock has now revealed what it's for, namely a 13.3-inch display, or side panel kit as the company calls it. In other words, this is a 13.3-inch display that mounts inside your case, assuming you have a tempered glass side panel. It's meant to be used as a secondary display, rather than just being some kind of diagnostics tool, which similar products on the market today end up being. The display uses an IPS panel and has a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, with a refresh rate of 60 Hz and a brightness of 300 cd/m², so nothing out of the ordinary there.

However, ASRock provides a custom eDP cable with a 40-pin connector, as well as four mounting brackets, some cable clips and even extra adhesive strips, in case you'd want to move the display to a new case in the future. The panel measures 300.26 x 193.01 mm (W x H), so it might not fit all cases. ASRock also points out that you need to have a clear, transparent tempered glass side panel for optimal usage of the display, as a tinted panel would for obvious reasons reduce the light that could be transmitted through the glass. The panel is compatible with the ASRock Z790 LiveMixer, Z790 Pro RS/D4, Z790M-ITX WiFi, Z790 Steel Legend WiFi, Z790 PG Lightning, Z790 Pro RS, Z790 PG Lightning/D4, H610M-ITX/eDP and B650E PG-ITX WiFi motherboards.

But how are you going to glue that to the inside of your side panel?

The transparent screens integrated into side panel glass are more interesting IMO.

Perfect for monitoring software etc.

I don't get some of the comments. It's not like any kind of display built into a case is a new thing.

I have a giant desk from IKEA, it cost me like 50 bucks, but its legit massive in size/surface area. I have loads of room. no reason not to put it on my desk, lol

Same, I got a new office/curved desk for pretty much free 1+ year ago and I can easily fit everything on it with more than enough space left for whatever else.
But even then when I had a smaller desk I always had all of my previous PCs on the desk, idk that was always 'normal' for me and my brother.

Well, I have my puter on my desk, along with all 3 of my monitors (2x 32" + 1x 48") plus my secondary machine, a 27" monitor and periphs, but my desk is rather large at 84" long x 30" Deep too, so it all fits nottaproblemo :)

However, I don't see any point nor benefits in stuffing a 13" display inside of a case either, so perhaps I am not "normal" in this regard, heheheh :D

You can put a screen/video with dolphins and water falls when system is cool.
Or
When system is hot you can do flames/hellfire screams and warning sirens.

Why not on the floor? To be able to see and 'show-off' the inside?

No, not at all, besides, even if my case had a window, it would be on the wrong side.
It just ended up there, as the desk is big enough and it makes it easier to clean the floor.
I used to have my PC on the floor, but I have a different setup now, so it just ended up wher it is by chance more or less.

Or just get one of those dp to edp boards that is powered via usb c for those who really want this but refuse to buy an asrock motherboard...or if they refuse to buy anything asrock, just repurpose an old notebook display maybe. it even supports touchscreens.
