NVIDIA GeForce 526.98 WHQL Drivers Released

NVIDIA today released the latest GeForce Game Ready software. Version 526.98 WHQL adds official support for the GeForce RTX 4080 graphics card launched earlier this week. It also adds optimization for "Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales," "Warhammer 40,0000: Darktide," the latest patch update for "WRC Generations," and "World of Warcraft: Dragonflight." It adds DLSS 3 support for the latest "Spider-Man" title, as well as DLAA support for "Monster Hunter Rise." The drivers also introduce official support for DirectStorage 1.1 API, as well as RTX-IO support for Vulkan. This way, even Vulkan API-based games can enjoy GPU-accelerated game asset decompression, speeding up game loading times.

DLSS 3 is now made to get along with VSYNC On G-SYNC and G-SYNC Compatible Monitors & TVs. The new HDR10+ Gaming standard is now implemented. Among the issues fixed with this driver release are a game crash with "Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection," on GTX 10-series GPUs, application crashes with Daz Studio and Maxon Cinema 4D; and minor quirks with Fujitsu Siemens SL23T-1, and the G-SYNC logo not displaying with LG OLED TVs that support it. Grab this feature-packed update from the link below.

Nice to see they did some work for Warhammer: Darktide, since it's coming out for those that pre-ordered tomorrow. I know a lot of people with Nvidia cards that had a whole lot of crashing during the closed beta last month.

This driver silently adds support for
  • NVIDIA_DEV.26B1 = "NVIDIA RTX 6000 Ada Generation" ; Same chip as the data center L6000 btw
  • NVIDIA_DEV.26B5 = "NVIDIA L40"

I bought a HDR capable display a month ago, and I've noticed that each driver update disables HDR in Windows, and I have to manually re-enable it. It has happened on at least the last two driver updates. I don't see this in the known issues list. I'm on Windows 11 21H2.

That's been happening for a long time, but this bug seems fixed in Windows 11 22H2 as it hasn't happened in this version of Windows for me yet.

Thanks, I'll check again when Microsoft finally decides 22H2 is compatible with my system.

And, of course, updating the driver also changes my default audio device, after I reboot. Probably a Windows problem too.

Game Ready Driver 526.98 installation failure on GeForce RTX 3060 Ti
[/HR]
Issue:
NVIDIA Game Ready Driver 526.98 may fail to install on certain PCs using a GeForce RTX 3060 Ti. After the driver installation fails, users may notice the following behaviors:
The NVIDIA Control Panel is missing or cannot be opened
Users will not not be able to extend their multiple monitors.
The Windows desktop may feel sluggish

Solution:
We are currently investigating this issue. In the meantime, we recommend GeForce RTX 3060 Ti users roll back to our previous Game Ready Driver v526.86 or NVIDIA Studio Driver v522.30.

HDR10+ seems like a great way to get dynamic metadata to your display without the complexity of licensing Dolby Vision. I don't think there's really any way to get Dolby Vision on a DIY PC, I've only ever seen it on some laptops.

There is, but you'll need a licensed TV and game that supports it. I'm not sure there's very many of those games around.

I have a Dolby Vision TV and tried enabling Dolby Vision in ME: Andromeda which just gives me a rainbow mess of colors. Need For Speed Heat chooses to automatically output in Dolby Vision when your display supports it and the same thing happens. I actually have to use CRU to trick windows into thinking my TV doesn't support Dolby Vision to get HDR working in NFS Heat. There is a Dolby Vision UWP app that says it requires a Dolby Vision licensed device in the description. I've only ever seen Asus and Lenovo laptops with official support, and the majority of them only have mediocre LCDs without FALD with no dGPU so all it's good for is the Microsoft Movies & TV app.

You probably haven't installed the dolby access app. I don't remember the exact procedure but it's certainly possible. I think/may be wrong, but you also may have to pay to get the feature in said app. Might be getting confused with atmos though, it's been a bit.

The dolby access app is only for atmos and only requires payment for headphones, home theater is free. The dolby vision app is only for licensed devices like I said in my last post.

Is your TV a licensed device?

DO NOT INSTALL These drivers if you work with Prores RAW video files , or edit them in adobe premier pro or any other editor, because i use Nvidia Studio version 517.40 and i can work with prores raw files how ever after i install
Nvidia Studio Ver 526.98 it was unable to work with prores raw files..
so i reinstalled the older version.
So word to the wise don't install 526.98 ver of Nvidia studio drivers, or else you will not be able to work with Prores raw video format files..
