Reservations Open for World's First AI-Powered 3D Tablet: Award-Winning Lume Pad 2 by Leia Inc

The future of 3D viewing is here: United States reservations are now open for Leia Inc.'s Lume Pad 2, the world's first 3D•AI tablet equipped with embedded technology to create fully immersive 3D calling, streaming, and gaming experiences along with content sharing and creation apps - all without the need for any eyewear. Starting today, the Lume Pad 2 is available for reservation via LeiaInc.com at a suggested retail price of $1,099. Customers who reserve before March 31 will receive a $100 discount when they confirm their order in April, when tablets begin shipping.

"With Leia's unique 3D•AI experiences, now available worldwide, people no longer have to settle for unnatural interactions like video chat on a flat screen," said Cecilia Qvist, CEO, Leia Inc. "Lume Pad 2 is for anyone who has ever sought a more genuine human connection from their online experiences." "We know that 3D isn't new - but how we do it is," said David Fattal, Leia Inc. co-founder and CTO. "With the world focused on how AI will continue to shape our future, we feel that this is one of its most thrilling applications - giving the naked eye a fully immersive 3D viewing experience that we believe makes Lume Pad 2 a 3D device for everyone."
Expected to be among the most popular features are LeiaChat and LeiaDream.

LeiaChat offers heightened emotional connection, in true-to-life 3D chat (as opposed to other apps that use avatars), enabling a present, and refined video experience that captures unparalleled depth and nuance.

"Zoom's platform is arguably the global leader in video conferencing and their user-centric approach to innovation is a natural fit for our aspirations at Leia, as we aim to make our immersive, real-life 3D experience accessible to everyone around the world," said Qvist.

"Leia is poised to bring immersive 3D to mobile users worldwide," said Brendan Ittelson, CTO of Zoom. "The opportunity to chat in 3D - especially from a portable handheld device - will no doubt enhance the way we connect with others on a daily basis. Zoom has optimized our Video SDK to best relay stereoscopic video streams and help enable LeiaChat to offer one of the highest quality 3D video call experiences."

Leia has also partnered with Stability.AI to leverage its stable diffusion technology to create LeiaDream, the first built-in generative art app enabling users to get creative and generate AI art with text in 3D.

"We've only just begun to understand how AI will transform the way we communicate, collaborate and create," said Emad Mostaque, CEO of Stability.AI. "Leia continues to push boundaries with 3D, as they literally open our eyes to a new dimension of digital engagement, bringing art to life and engaging creatives with groundbreaking tools."

interesting, but no thanks, i'd rather take a standard pad without 3D AI gimmick for a 5th of the price ... or a 3rd ... rather, a 5th aka 199$ for a 6gb/128gb pad was a lucky strike (no not the smoking one ... )

also "immersive 3D"? on a tablet? ... alright ...

at least AI in that use scenario is not bound to dominate (well ... certainly not peoples, even less market ) .... or is it!?!?!

I enjoyed the Zelda Ocarina 3d experience on the original nintendo 3ds, it was decent, just not enough games used it right.

i imagine this will suffer in a similar way, not enough content will use the feature right, regardless of what that content is.

yeah. also the "new" 3ds did the 3d sooo much better than the original. It is a night and day difference imho, but unfortunately that ship is long gone.

Is there a demo of how Stable Diffusion helps the online video chat environment?

Because I really don't get how that's useful.

------

EDIT: I browsed through the webpage. It looks like its just a Stable Diffusion frontend.

I guess the tablet community isn't too comfortable with downloading these tools or setting it up on their own computers yet. So I guess there's a bit of "value-add" by having this all setup in a simple GUI for people to play with?

--------

EDIT2: BTW: Face Tracking isn't AI. Its just... face tracking. There's been plenty of good face tracking demos over the years without any of this "AI moniker". Uggggh. Seems like I'm just gonna have to get used to this new ridiculous hype cycle... That being said, Face Tracking is really awesome and I'd probably try it out. I'm just a bit miffed that its getting tagged as "AI".

And wtf? No specs yet? I was browsing their webpage and I can't find much aside from Snapdragon 888. Anyone know how much RAM this thing has? Or storage / NVMe ?

Some more details here, but nothing about ram. Supposedly developed with ZTE.
