EVGA Launches SuperNOVA 1000W and 850W Gold ATX 3.0 FTW Series PSUs

Introducing the EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 W/850 W Gold FTW Series - The power supply series designed to support up to 235% total power excursion and exceed the needs of today's most powerful PCs. With a half-bridge LLC resonant controller, DC-DC converter, and 100% Japanese Capacitors, the EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 W/850 W Gold FTW Series gives you the peace of mind to push your system to the limits.

Designed to support current and future standards, the EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 W/850 W Gold FTW Series is fully-compliant with ATX12V V3.0 and PCIe Gen 5.0 standards. This means you can use these power supplies with your current system or the system you want to build. More to the point, these power supplies are built to support up to 235% total power excursion and respond significantly faster to transient spikes, ensuring your card and system stay safe and fully powered at all times.
235% Total Power Excursion
The EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 W/850 W Gold FTW Series power supplies support up to 235% total power excursion and up to 300% GPU Power Excursion. This means that these power supplies can handle over 2x its rated wattage and up to 3x GPU sustained power for short periods of time. Rest assured that your current or future system will be able to handle a momentary spike in power usage.

Native 12VHPWR Thermal Protection Design
The EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 W/850 W Gold FTW Series features a native 12VHPWR PCIe connector delivering up to 600 W power output that also eliminates cable clutter. Prioritizing safety and protection, an advanced thermal protection circuit has been added to the 12VHPWR PCIe connector on the PSU side. This circuit serves to safeguard both your power supply and graphics card. If the connector is not correctly connected or if temperature anomalies are detected in the 12VHPWR PCIe connector, the circuit will activate an automatic shutdown. This added protection is particularly important to prevent potential overcurrent risks that may arise during heavy loads from your graphics card. This combination of efficient power delivery and proactive thermal protection ensures optimal performance and reliability in your system.

LLC & PFC MOSFET with Optimized Transistor Package
The LLC & PFC MOSFET incorporates an optimized transistor package that brings significant improvements to its functionality. This package design offers double the heat transfer areas and four times the power dissipation capability, resulting in superior temperature ratings. By managing the heat generation, the optimized transistor package enhances thermal efficiency, ensuring a highly reliable and durable performance for your power supply system.

Near-Platinum Efficiency Performance
The EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 W/850 W Gold FTW Series incorporates an optimized transformer that delivers exceptional performance. Through upgrades, this power supply unit has achieved an efficiency level approaching Platinum standards.

TheDeeGeeI mailed Seasonic about that recently as i found out their 2x 8-pin to 12VHPWR cable also uses the dimple style terminals. They said there is currently no reason to go with with 4-spring as 3 dimple makes more than enough contact for the wattage required.
Exactly.

Nvidia's AVL has four different suppliers. None of them are the Wieson "4-spring". That's not to say Wieson is not a legitimate supplier. They're just not in the Nvidia AVL. In addition to the four in the AVL and Wieson, there are three other suppliers I can think of that are frequently used. Nvidia's AIB's use Astron because Astron has almost always been Nvidia's supplier for DP, HDMI, DVI, etc. connectors and Astron was also able to provide a complete adapter solution to Nvidia's spec (with the AND gate IC to determine how many 8-pins are plugged in). The Astron adapters are soft-bundled by Nvidia with the GPUs.

The assets used in the ATX 3.0 rev 2.01 document were provided by Wieson. No testing was done by Intel. Wieson simply provided a pitch document to Intel and they said, "yep! Looks good! And put it as "recommended" in their spec.

The "4-spring" requires more force to insert and remove, yet does not provide any improvement in clamping force or resistance until AFTER THIRTY CYCLES. At this point, the 4-spring provided a .03Kgf clamping force improvement over dimples. THIS was the data provided in their document.

The document is also rife with errors. Showing some terminals having an increase in clamping force at 30 cycles versus 1 cycle. Thermal measurements of terminals that were LOWER than ambient, etc.

The whole thing is a joke and Igor and Intel took the bait hook, line and sinker.
AsniI'm not gonna buy a 1000w psu with less than 2x12VHPWR native connectors. Even if i'm not using them.
So what you're saying is you're not buying a 1000W PSU with the new connectors. :D

AsniIt took quite some time but we now have a 750w psu with dual 12v-2x6 connectors.

Cool, that leaves a comfortable -150W for everything else in the system!

NGL, My initial exposure to 1stplayer was abysmal - proper dropshiping zero-quality garbage that comes from Wish.com or ends up on Amazon with a brand name that resembles the output of an 8-character password generator.

JASTOOAM?
XIMRMUTL?
VORBARXY?
1STPLAYER?

I basically assume that these companies have no quality control to speak of, no real physical presence anywhere, and will use the cheapest parts from the lowest bidders, all whilst pulling specs, certifications, and other details straight out of their ass because their MO is marketing ignorance at best and intentional deception to shift product in the unregulated marketplaces of AliExpress, Wish, eBay and AmazonMarketplace at worst.

Even the rtx 4070 super features this connector and it only draws 220w. If you do gpu based rendering (octanerender, redshift, vray) using dual rtx 4070s, you still need a PSU with two 12v-2x6 connectors while having 300w for the rest of the system.

I'm not commenting of this, i don't really care about this product in particular: i just value their choice and i hope other brands do the same.
One 12v-2x6/12vhpwr connector on high wattage PSU is a shame.

The problem is that 12VHPWR is supposed to deliver 450W, so you need 900W to those two connectors to meet spec. Realistically, dual 12VHPWR is a 1200W PSU feature.

The blame here is on Nvidia enforcing 450W Minimum-spec connectors for GPUs pulling 160W. That's where the dumb is.
