AMD Software Adrenalin 23.8.2 WHQL Released with Starfield Optimization

AMD today released the latest version of the Adrenalin software for Radeon RX GPUs. Version 23.8.2 WHQL comes with optimization for "Starfield" almost a week ahead of its September 6 release. This is probably because "Starfield" has a brand partnership with AMD, which includes the game being optimized for Radeon GPUs and Ryzen processors, as well as AMD selling or giving away special editions of its Radeon RX 7000 series and Ryzen 7000 series products. In terms of numbers Adrenalin 23.8.2 WHQL offers up to 16% increase for "Starfield" at 4K Ultra HD over the previous version, as tested using the RX 7900 XTX and RX 7900 XT GPUs. With this release, AMD has addressed just the one issue—an application crash or driver timeout when playing "Baldur's Gate 3" with DirectX 11 renderer on certain Radeon RX 7000 series GPUs.

Would be interesting to see how RDNA3 performs in Starfield as it flies in COD.

Considering that this runs on the same engine that was used in games like Fallout 76 I doubt any kind of optimizations will resolved the potentially horrifically bad performance. I know the engine is supposed to be "new" but knowing how these companies operate I doubt they reworked the entire thing, it makes no sense time/effort wise, otherwise they would just switch to something like UE5.

All that I am interested in, is if they have fixed their drivers for the Phoenix APUs.

So, nothing they said about 6000 series, so I guess installing it is pointless. Not reason if no any improvement for my 6800XT.

My thoughts too. Are the 23.8.1 version safe to install though? Always wary of bjorked drivers.

That's actually awesome news, even tho it's not 16% but still, it seems like I would be able to play at High Settings 1440p Without FSR on my 6800XT in that case. Maybe even ultra, but Hardware Unboxed just released video with optimized setting, and Ultra (as in 99% of games) are not worth.
