BOOX Introduces Tab Ultra C Pro - a Next-Level ePaper Tablet Workstation

We are thrilled to announce the highly anticipated launch of the BOOX Tab Ultra C Pro, the upgraded version of its predecessor and one of the newest ePaper Tablet PCs in 2023. In this article, we will explore the powerful features that make the Tab Ultra C Pro a versatile workstation, delivering ultra-smooth performance and unmatched productivity.

Sleeker Design, Enhanced Portability
The Tab Ultra C Pro features a sleek and sophisticated uni-body design, crafted from premium aluminium alloy. Its polished finish adds a contemporary charm, making it a true statement piece. We've made it even more portable with a thinner design of just 6.6 mm and a lighter body weighing only 450 g. To make sound adjustments easier, we've added two volume keys on the side. Plus, the 16MP camera with LED flash provides extra convenience for precise capture. The camera's metal finish perfectly complements the aluminium gloss of the back casing, creating a cohesive design. With its chic color, the Tab Ultra C Pro effortlessly blends into your personal and professional life, making a stylish statement wherever you go.
Unleash Pro-level Performance and Seamlessness
Just like its predecessor, the Tab Ultra C Pro boasts the 10.3'' HD E Ink Carta 1200 screen, offering a high resolution of 300 PPI for black and white, and an impressive 150 PPI for displaying relaxing colors. Level up to the Pro edition with the cutting-edge Kaleido 3 color screen with our advanced BSR technology, along with the most powerful octa-core chip you'll find in any ePaper product.
We've elevated the BOOX Super Refresh Technology to new heights, delivering an unparalleled ultra-smooth experience. The Tab Ultra C Pro, powered by an advanced 8-core processor, can reach a clock speed of up to 2.8 GHz, making it 13% faster than the Tab Ultra C and providing over 5 times faster download speed. It offers the most seamless experience ever encountered on an ePaper tablet. Whether you are working on projects or taking notes, the Tab Ultra C Pro delivers a pro-level performance.
Another crucial enhancement is the expanded memory, now increased from 4 GB RAM to 6 GB RAM. With the 6 GB RAM + 128 GB ROM, combined with BSR and a powerful processor, the Tab Ultra C Pro ensures a seamless experience even when multiple apps are open simultaneously.

Elevate Your Writing Experience and Stay Organized
The Tab Ultra C Pro comes pre-loaded with our latest firmware and exciting features such as Smart Scribe. This game-changing addition changes the way you take notes and annotate books. You can annotate books with handwritten notes and easily turn those scribbles into perfect shapes, highlights, underlines, and effortlessly delete your handwriting. Enjoy a smart and efficient writing experience like never before.
Running on the Android 12 OS, the Tab Ultra C Pro offers flexibility to stay organized and productive. Download a wide range of apps directly from the built-in Google Play Store app. From task management apps to note-taking tools, choosing the ones that best suit your organizational needs.

They seem to have refresh issue's, pixels that got stuck which in my case i would like one for would be a bit of a nightmare with a bunch of tabs.

Honestly I find these products really odd.
I love e-paper, I have my old trusted kobo aura one for reading and the original note air for note-taking and I love each for what I use them for.
But I also own an S8+ because some content/usecases just don't mesh well with an e-paper.
I would never consider buying this product, what useful features does it offer the Note C Air?
Even all their marketing images show only note-taking, then buy a Note Air 3 C. They're not even buying it themselves.

I'm not sure what you're talking about, if you want to not have pixels being stuck you can configure the tablet to do a full refresh on change or do it yourself with a gesture.
Just don't expect anything better than 2spf (seconds per frame).
If this is an unacceptable compromise then e-paper is just not sophisticated enough.

That said, I very much doubt there's going to be any notable improvements any time soon.
All development the last years have been focused on colors and higher refreshrate (with pixels being stuck).

I've been considering a BOOX Color E-Reader; mainly for my large collection of books and comics, and also for having colors for the news feeds I read. Yeah, I probably could get a regular tablet instead, but AFAIK, the Ultra C and Ultra C Pro have much better battery life for what will mostly be a reader rather than a multi-function device.

That being said, I'm told I should get an iPad Pro, iPad Air, 10th Gen iPad, or a Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ instead, given all are around the same cost (~600 USD depending on size and memory), and even if I do use them for mostly reading, they all should have some efficiency modes that would give considerable battery life too for what's mostly a reader and occasional note-taker.

Anyone have any opinions? I'm admittedly not much of a tablet user, but I'd like to shift from using my phone for reading and note-taking to a larger tablet.

I think we've been through this several times - eInk doesn't work for general productivity. The only thing it's good for is reading (text and signage).
Even something as simple as typing text will be a nightmare when you get a refresh rate worse than 80s calculator.

Honestly I would not consider this one, get the Note Air 3 C instead.
But if it's your first e-reader you should really try and compare before committing.

The most annoying thing about this launch for me is that they only released the non-pro model about three months ago, and the only functional difference is a new cpu + whatever tweaks they've done to improve refresh by 10%.

Should have just released the one model.
