Intel Celebrates XeSS Support Reaching 150+ Games Titles

Late last week, Team Blue's gaming division celebrated a new milestone—their social media account released a 20-second-long video that swept across a large sprawl of modern titles. The accompanying message boasted: "we've hit the mark on 150+ games with XeSS support, with more on the way! Experience peak gaming for yourself with Intel XeSS AI upscaling today." Intel's launch of Arc "Alchemist" discrete graphics cards marked a more mainstream introduction for their proprietary Xe Super Sampling (XeSS) technology. Earlier in 2022, Xe LP-based iGPUs and Iris Xe MAX discrete GPUs were the first pieces of Team Blue hardware to be enabled with XeSS support.

XeSS 2 was introduced last December—during the official unveiling of Intel's Arc B580 "Battlemage" graphics card—but not enough time has elapsed to gain widespread support. VideoCardz's weekend sleuthing revealed only two compatible titles—in contrast, Team Blue's first-gen super sampling upscaler support list now numbers 159. Since late last year, PC gamers have been snapping up wallet-friendly Arc B580 models. Another—slightly cheaper—XeSS 2-enabled product arrived last month; with the release of Arc B570 cards. We hope that the number of (XeSS 2) supported titles increases, in parallel with the rising popularity of Battlemage GPUs.

They're reworking it almost from scratch to deliver a much more powerful 2.0 version. Kinda too late, sure, but let them cook. At least XeSS does age better than FSR does.

XeSS had the benefit if being the last to arrive.

Huh, more than AMD in like half the time.

Oh, wait, AMD doesn’t have an XeSS, they have an ugly algorithmic upscaler.

In that case AMD should be killing it in everything they do.

I haven't run an AMD card since the 4890 was still on the shelves.

That is why I try real hard not to smack talk them too much haha.

I hated that card so much that I gave it away for free on another forum.

XeSS: Released May, 2022. Supported in 161 games. Source: game.intel.com/us/xess-enabled-games/
FSR 1: Released June 22, 2021. Supported in ? games.
FSR 2: Released May 12, 2022. Supported in 183 games.
FSR 3: Released September, 2023. Supported in 106 games.
FSR 3.1: Released April, 2024. Supported in 106 games.

Verdict: False. FSR2 released only a month before XeSS but is supported in more games.
FSR3 released more than a year later but is already supported in more than half the number of games compared to XeSS.

Here is a much more comprehensive up to date (latest edit on February 1st, 2025) list of games that support upscalers officially, unofficial support, software support and upcoming game support along with dates and specific versions each games supports.
Unfortunately exact numbers are not provided and ChatGPT is feeling lazy today so i could not count them.

We're talking about upscalers here where AMD is not even the latest.

What i see is, if a game got a version of FSR the devs will not update to a better FSR after a new version came out even for years.(ofc there are some that are always updated)
