XBOX 360 Price Cut Coming

Vice President of Microsoft Game Studios, Shane Kim, said in an interview that the company needs to lower the $299 - $479 price tag to increase sales among those who are not typically interested in traditional combat and racing video games. No word on how much the price will be cut or when it will happen but Mr. Kim's comments come a day after Sony cut the price on it's Playstation 3. Microsoft has sold 5.5 million XBOX 360 units in the United States and 11.6 million worldwide.

If they cut it by $100, I'm selling, or trading in my Premium for an Elite.

a $100 price cut would be amazing but i doubt it. i bet they slash prices 15%-20% just so there is a nice gap between them and the ps3. i know they said in the article that this is to compete with the wii but the wii and the xbox appeal to totally different groups of people. now the ps3 however...

the hartware.net news says that there wont be a $-cut,
there will only be a Halo Special Edition...
with same specs as elite but 20gb instead of 120gb

$299?

If they do infact slash it that low that will give them an enormous sales boost.

Hmm, new warrenty, new heatsink design, cheaper price, I think the Xbox 360 may be doing good for itself!

Hopefully, they will resolve the 1 in 3 failure rate, regardless of the longer warranty.

from what i hear, newer units comes with a new heat sink design, reducing the over heating issue. Also, a 65nm is planned around fall. 65nm cpus are cheaper to make, chances are when they implement these, the prices will drop quite a bit.

Chances are the the 360 will drop a lot. I have a feeling that the core might drop to $200-$250 to compete with the wii.

DS has sold more than Wii, Xbox360, and PS3. FYI.:laugh::laugh:

Sony only cut their price to $500 dollars (the original price for the 20 gigger), so they can release their 80GB model for $600.

i think.

no price drop...:shadedshu
that article doesnt make any sense because in an interview he said right before E3 that they need to cut the price to compete and he made it sound like in other statements like it was inevitable. he said he wouldnt make the announcement during e3 but plans on making it sometime soon. im not sure where xboxsolution.com got their information...
