Microsoft Cuts Xbox 360 Price in Europe

Microsoft today announced an estimated retail price drop for its Xbox 360 family of consoles in the UK, as well as confirming the availability of the Xbox 360 Elite. On August 24, new estimated retail pricing will come into effect for Xbox 360 in the UK. The Xbox 360 Premium will be reduced by £30 ($60) to carry an estimated retail price of £249.99 ($497). The entry-level Xbox 360 Core console will also be reduced by £20 ($40) to carry an estimated retail price of £179.99 ($358). Xbox 360 Elite will carry an estimated retail price of £299.99 ($596) when it launches in the UK this Friday. Earlier this month, Microsoft slashed the price of its Xbox 360 console for the U.S. and Canadian region.

well it is a price cut but id say it inst going to be enough to dent Wii sales, considering the component parts are sourced in Dollars M$ really could give this side of the Atlantic a better price cut.

The pound isnt a 2:1 favorite over the dollar.

Now, on to the news, about time the prices were cut there. Id wager alot of folks over their are contemplating on owning a 360, but the price is ridiculous.

at current it is £1 for $1.986 (xe.com) but a company like M$ would no doubt do currency exchanges themselves cutting out the commission meaning they would not doubt get a higher transfer rate than what the average person would get if they change a few hundred £ or $ at the local foreign exchange, but even at an exchange rate of 1.98 to 1 M$ could really give us this side of the Atlantic a fair price discount.
