Halo 3 Breaks First-Day Sales Records

Microsoft Corp.'s third game in the Halo Trilogy - Halo 3, has broken the U.S. sales record for a new video game by garnering an estimated US$170 million in its first 24-hours on sale, the company said late Wednesday. The performance beat the previous record setter, predecessor Halo 2, which earned $125 million within 24-hours after its launch. That's not all. Halo 3 has beaten other records as well. More than 1.7 million copies of Halo 3 were pre-ordered in the U.S., making it the fastest pre-selling game in U.S. history, Microsoft said. The game also drew over a million Xbox Live members to play online in the first 20-hours on offer, making it the biggest day for Xbox Live gaming in history. Halo 3 launched in 37 countries at midnight on Sept. 25 and is available in 17 languages. It retails in three versions: Standard Edition ($59.99), Limited Edition ($69.99) and Legendary Edition ($129.99).

really I think the defective disk thing is being blown out of proportion, DVD's and CD's can often take a beating with minor scratches. I think as long as the game is still fully functional most gamers would not send it back lol.

These numbers are truely amazing.

thing is most gamers do care if the disk has a scratch on it, its sort of like buying a new car for a certain price,

If that new car has any flaws with it such as scratches, the price should be adjusted for the flaws, same goes with media. It appears that redmond cant do anything right (Games, Software, Hardware)

Yeah, they'll always stay an underdog. They'll never be selling much of their OS, Office or this little game I heard about... I think they called it Halo or so.

PS: Thanks for buying their OS, gotta support little companies.

I beg to differ most kiddies are so happy they got a game they pop it in whether or not it has scratches on it. Don't tell me I'm wrong cause I was a kid once and I know how it works with video games. Bad idea comparing it to a car, 50$ vs 10$ K+. Adjust for flaws lmao.

I had fun playing it at a friend's house. The graphic's sweet. The same characters in there look a little different to the previous ones, of course except for Master Chief. Hopefully they'll release it for the PC version in a couple of years hehe.

And why is that? maybe because it's better to stick with the console, for its value name?

Well if the game was developed to play on a 360 controller and not necesarrily for a mouse then yeah:laugh::laugh::laugh:.

Look at how easy Halo 2 was on PC compared to console. It was a breeze to reviewers who had already played it on xbox.

Yea I agreed. But look, a Halo Pro (360) VS a Halo Pro (PC). They both can be winners and vice versa. It all depends on how well you use your "weapon". I'm pretty used to the Mouse and Keyboard. So when it comes to Xbox or PS2, I suck at using those rumble sticks for FPS games. :ohwell:
