Asus X48 R.O.G. Motherboard Pictured
Delayed until February for marketing reasons, Intel's new high end king the X48 chipset has made appearance in the form of an ASUS Republic of Gamers (R.O.G.) motherboard. The new X48 board will be named Rampage Formula (DDR2 memory version pictured down) and Rampage Extreme (DDR3 and no pics) and will be released next year, most likely in February, ready to accept the new Intel QX9770 (3.2GHz), 1600MHz FSB processors. Until then, enjoy the photo.

will be sweet with good ddr3, the maximus formula supports ddr2 tho with an x38 chipset, tho i gots the watercooled nb version
What's the difference between X38 and X48 ? Planning on an el-cheapo Foxconn X38 soon.
the x48 is just a selected x38, with "official" support for 1600fsb cpu's. Its an x38 with a new name
Anand also mentioned this in his X48 First Look:
God! I'm now beginning to realise what an ass I was siding Intel's upgrade path in that 6400+ black thread. :banghead:
with maybe a bios mod or update i dont see why not
4 pin cpu power... QUAD cpus are going into this board Asus, QUAD. You cannot power a quad with the weak P4 connector.
And what's with the PCI slot above the first PCI-E slot? ...
:slap:
That's a 8 pin with 4 pins covered by a rubber-stopper, so people with a 4-pin PSU don't put it in the wrong side. Look closely.
lol
i like the heatsinks, i wonder if the i/o shield covers the heatsinks that get to the edge of the board near the ports? by the look of the design it doesnt, i like that heaps hope they adopt this design for any 780i boards asus will release :toast:
I like these large heatsinks as long as they don't inhibit CPU coolers. They make the board cooler- so its all good (apart from the pricing...)
