First Look at the Sapphire Atomic HD 3870 Cooler
Sapphire's new Atomic HD 3870 cooler is a single slot design with integrated Vapor Chamber technology. The Vapor Chamber is only 3.0mm thick under the black shell and is said to be able to dissipate as much as 150w of heat to the fins. With a single slot design, the HD 3870 is now able to run Quad CrossfireX on 790FX chipset based motherboards.

If you have the money for quad xfire, you can afford watercooling.
stock cooler fan flat out less than 60 C.. as ati have it set.. 90 C.. a fixed 50% would give about 75 C..
the only gain will be the single slot factor..

I could not get the stock cooler off of my card, broke a capacitor off trying. Mercifully I managed to fix it with some adhesive and liquid silver pen (applied by a needle) because a soldering iron tip was to big. I still could not get the cooler off, so I am left with an Accelero S1 and copper ram h.s. that will never get used.
It looks better tho',but like others have said,it should vent outside the case.
in an ideal world i would like mine down around 70 C.. well within the coolers abilities.. and at a reasonable noise level.. but assuming ati aint entirely stupid.. how they have it set up must be okay..
i dont suppose the single slot thing whatever they call it is gonna work better than the stock cooler.. i would bet not as well..

ps.. and four of those things all sucking in each others heat and blasting it at a brick wall are gonna toast.. the people that wrote that article are fools.. nuff said..
I would much rather have that cool my HD2900 then what it has now.
