Besides Windows Vista SP1, Microsoft Windows Server 2008 was also released to manufacturing today and will be available to customers on March 1st, starting with Microsoft Volume Licensing customers. Microsoft Volume Licensing customers with active Microsoft Software Assurance coverage or an Enterprise Agreement will be able to download the new Server software toward the end of February as part of the joint Microsoft SQL Server 2008 and Visual Studio 2008 Heroes Happen Here launch event.

Hopefully this works better than vista. I wonder if they stripped some of the crap out of it so it's more functional (perf/stability wise).

I would expect so, the server editions are always very stable and secure.

I tried an RC release few months back and driver support was atrocious, both for 32 and 64 bit versions. I hope that has improved, although I doubt it.

is this the same as MS home server? I have heard of MS Home Server and thought it would be a really nice OS for my media server.

Supposidly it can combine all the harddrives on your machine to display as one harddrive. Granted thats just a software version of JBOD but from what I have heard, it can take exsiting files that are on multiple HDs and make the OS see it as a single partition.

That would make my life on a server much nicer!!!

Maybe Im just an idiot but is there a way to do that now with current software?
