Retailers Begin Dumping HD-DVD Stock

Retail stores around Japan apparently got the hint that Toshiba recently gave up the HD format war. As piles of outmoded equipment pile up, retailers are anxious to get rid of them. In some stores, HD-DVD recorders can be found at the same price as older DVD recorders. At this point, the real savings can only be found in places around Tokyo, where the original story was recorded. However, expect retailers around the whole world to begin seriously discounting HD-DVD equipment. After all, the industry has decided on Blu-ray.

Where can I get one of these HD DVD burners? :P All kidding aside, Id love to get my hands on a cheap BD burner. However, media prices and the burners themselves arent anything cheap or impressive enough.

Not necessarily true. There are still good quality companies out there. And Toshiba is one of those reliable companies out there too. In Consumer Reports Magazine a couple years ago. Toshiba ranked very high on reliablity with their HD TVs staying in good condition. I trust Consumer Reports Magazine very much.
