finally, full divx support without using linux on it, :toast:
can any one confirm if it will playback more codecs like xvid and whatnot?

might have to by myself one for christmas sice bd won the media war and the ps3 (being the most popular bd player) can now play divx. in no time bd burners and discs will become common for pc and ill be able to dump my whole media center onto less then 50 bd discs :D
awesome.

Yeah, they play xvid. In fact, they've played Divx and xvid from square one, but they didn't have the large file support.

I was gonna say that too. Alot of the P### I burn and other movies I burn were Divx. Divx is awesome because you dont have to have the large files, but its awesome that the support is now there. Time for me to update :D

You can do a system update via the internet on your ps3, or you can downloaded the update from sony, and put it on a thumb drive, and load it from there.

Thanks, I was wondering because a friends son has a PS3.. And it couldn't play DivX, so I thought that after this update this would be possible.

divx playback was enabled back in january. this is an update that enables a wider array of divx formats.
