As many times as greedy UAC tries to make it work so they can get rich?
I though Doom 3 was the last one they were making?

Either way i am still going to get the game since Doom 3 was not that bad. I just hope they include a little more open space areas.

Actually i might be one of the few people who actually thinks that GTA 4 is pure crap. (Vice City was actually even better)

Anyway on topic:

Hope they use ID Tech 5 engine and this time have a more interesting based story line because Doom 3 was indeed repetitive.

Oh no! ID should have quite while ahead. Doom 3 was awful! Doom 4 will be just the same, unless they have sacked EVERYONE that was involved with Doom 3, including the tea-lady.

JAmes.

Yea, I played about 7 hours too much of Doom 3. It's gotta be the most boring thing I've ever played, especially pitted against the likes of HL2. The game really went downhill once you actually started fighting, because then you realized that everything after that was the same thing. But, if you're into that sorta thing, more power to ya I guess.

Nice post! My thoughts exactly! Here's how doom went: something breaks, you fix it and repeat. The whole game thru. After returning back to the space station from Hell, I just quit playing. To fukn boring.

Half-Life 2 on the other hand, OMG that game was GREAT the entire way through. The game always has you doing something new. I'm willing to bet my life's fortunes that the id boys studied HL2 and the developer's commentary!!

U GOTTA BE BULL***** ........... no seriously is doom4 coming out ??

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY.......... i love doom series...... i got every game of doom.... doom1, 2, ultimate, 3 and cant wait till 4 !!! OMG, Doom 4 would have killer graphics i bet !!!!

im a BIG FAN of Doom series and the star wars series !!!!!!!

i hope they better have a better engine, weapons, story ( main part is the story ) and have the really scary envinornments... not like one stupid guy who opened a portal to hell and he controls hell ??? seriously makes no sense..... this time they better have some F***** story so that it suits the demon ass blasting experince

but anyways....... im pretty happy doom 4 is coming out, but does anyone know by what time it will be out ??

Half Life 1 at its time was as much a masterpiece as HL2 is now. It made clever use of the simple elements of the FPS genre, used them in the right places and eventually churned out a great game despite a dated graphics engine. id didn't copy that game much (except for that the crowbar redefined the concept of a mêlée weapon, which in Quake 2 was a fart-bursting blaster, and in Quake 3 was a rather powerful gauntlet.)

Enter HL2, id found how much Doom 3 sucked compared to HL2, what did they copy? The expansion pack Resurrection of Evil had a cheap remake of the HL2 Gravity Gun.

Unless Doom4 is going to be something with wide-open spaces and confined space puzzles (what VALVe calls 'road blocks'), and unless it sheds the PITA key-hunts which in Doom3 was pooly transformed into "slog your ass through the whole base to press one button on a computer screen somewhere", I'm not even getting the demo of it.

I kinda thought the same - although, MP in Doom3 I found to be as much fun as back with Quake 2, but damn did D3 start getting repetivie once your reached "Hell"

I've seen the Doom3 engine do large open spaces quite nicely, it's a shame they didn't have larger areas in most of the maps, as the engine was fully capable of it.

But, it's ID Software - I'm 100% certain their next release will kick as as usual.

I'm just stoked, though - now that ID Software has officially confirmed a new game is going into development, it means they'll probably be releasing the source code to Doom3 within a year . . . and there are quite a few total conversion mods that have been moving along rather slowly without that code.

We should see some kick ass D3 mods after the source is on the net!
