EA and Crytek set Deployment date for Crysis Warhead

Electronic Arts Inc. and Crytek GmbH announced today that Crysis Warhead, the pulse-racing new installment of the Crysis universe, will ship to retail stores in North America on September 16th and in Europe on September 12th. Beginning today, gamers can pre-order Crysis Warhead at the EA Store here for only $24.95; $5 less than the full retail price, or receive $10 off when purchasing both Crysis Warhead and Crysis. Crysis Warhead recently recognized by IGN PC as being the Best First Person Shooter and showcasing the Best Graphics Technology of E3 2008.

"We think Crysis Warhead is going to offer a tremendous experience to a wide range of gamers," said Cevat Yerli, CEO and President of Crytek. "Fans of Crysis are going to enjoy more of the open-ended gameplay, cutting-edge visuals and huge, epic battles from the first game, while also finally finding out what kind of havoc Psycho was wreaking on the other side of the island.

Crysis Wars Announcement
At the same time, we designed Warhead to be more accessible for gamers new to the Crysis franchise. It is a standalone game with a story that can stand on its own, it has been optimized to run better on a wider range of PCs, and we are introducing Crysis Wars , a tailor-made experience for multiplayer gamers within the Crysis universe - all at a great value."

Crysis Wars features three multiplayer modes, including TeamInstantAction, a new match type that mixes fast-paced action in a team-based environment, in addition to the insanely frenetic gameplay style of InstantAction and the hardcore team-based PowerStruggle, both of which return from Crysis. The game will include 21 maps, six new maps for TeamInstantAction and InstantAction, and one for PowerStruggle and Crytek will also have a support team dedicated to meeting the needs of the Crysis Wars community.

Upcoming Warhead Trailer
A brand new trailer for Crysis Warhead will premiere exclusively on "GameTrailers TV with Geoff Keighley" this Friday, August 15th on Spike TV (check your local listings) and will be available online at GameTrailers immediately following the show.

Crysis Warhead is a standalone title and does not require the original Crysis to play. The game has been rated 'M' for Mature by the ESRB and '16+' by PEGI. For more information about the game, please visit the game's new web site launching today at: www.crysiswarhead.com.

You play as Psycho on the other side of the island, during the events of Nomad in the first game.

yay, a decent (hopefully, based on first crysis) FPS game, with someone british as the main character! :D

i would pre-order it but I've only just got first crysis. :o

Will see how far I get, but for only £14.99 I might just get it anyway! :D

Anyone know if it working on lesser systems is due to graphics downgrade or just better optimization this time?

They are optimizing it very well from what I've read. I think they said a 9600GT can max it or something like that!

Hope thats true, Crysis is a jaw dropping game, both visually and gameplay, am running Jrobs Config, looks stunning! Though i dont know how they managed to make 25-30 FPS feel silky smooth, no other game is like that.

but games like CoJ and BioShock were also (maybe not quite as Crysis) nice looking DX10 games but didnt need the hardware thats coming on the shelves now to run it properly.

UrbklrI didn't notice enemy's running into my fire...80% of them try to flank...only to find me not there, then they recon around for my new position. The rest stay behind cover and pound my old location, and then shoot blindly into the area around me, looking for me.
Same here. I killed nearly every single korean in jungle areas stealthily. The others would hear them get whacked, come to investigate, then I'd whack them from behind. For some reason, it's more satisfying to kill asians in video games. Must be from all of the vietnam/WWII movies and games.

So true, stealth ftw! Nothing like being quiet and seeing a guy take a wizz, then you roll some logs down at him, he's all like "Waaaaaaaa!?"

I made the goofball jump in the drink when I did that - then I shot him right as he pulled that fare gun out, but the shot didn't seem fatal. He probably drowned in the drink since he fell down face first :nutkick:

I really enjoy killing the Koreans with trees and boxes and oil drums. It's hilarious to see them hide behind a tree, only for me to chop it down on top of their heads. Sometimes the game lets you pick up the big chopped down trees too, then I like to become surrounded by Koreans and do my neo impression...:D

Just look at it, poetry...

OMFG!!!!! WARHEAD!!!!!!!!! im gonna die if this doesn't come out in australia @ the same time as Europe!!!!! i cant wait :)
and yeah stealth is where most of the replay value is! i like it when you just sneak past the enemies and only kill the ones you absolutely must, i think its just as fun as going in like the terminator.

If they would've released the first one at this price point, they wouldn't have been bitching about the low sales figures. $50-60 is just inexcusable for a PC game if you ask me.

I got crysis special edition for £15.95 a week ago :D

And I've just ordered Warhead for £14.99 :D

Couldnt see the point in getting Crysis till I had the hardware to run it.

Agree though, games should def be cheaper at launch (like warhead)

Wow you havent got very far at all! lol. It gets a LOT better after that. I've only just finished first level but its amazing! You havent even experienced vehicles yet! :D

I play on normal. I know thats kinda easy compared to other games, but I'm more of a halo FPS than a splinter cell/MGS kinda guy. So I like to be able to go in all guns blazing and I was dying too many times on Hard. Maybe once I have played the game through once, if Warhead hasnt arrived on my door step, I'll try stealth on delta.
