Gigabyte Unveils Ultra Durable 3 Motherboard Technology

GIGABYTE UNITED INC., a leading manufacturer of motherboards and graphics cards today is pleased to introduce their revolutionary Ultra Durable 3 technology, the industry's first consumer desktop motherboard design to feature 2 ounces of copper for both the Power and Ground layers, delivering a dramatically lower system temperature, improved energy efficiency and enhanced stability for overclocking. GIGABYTE once again leads the motherboard industry for the highest quality, most innovative motherboard design with the launch of their latest Ultra Durable 3 technology. Ultra Durable 3 motherboards are the first consumer desktop motherboards to feature double the amount of copper for the Power and Ground layers of the PCB. Most traditional motherboard designs utilize a single ounce of copper for each layer, whereas GIGABYTE's ultra Durable 3 motherboards feature 2 ounces per layer.

Doubling the amount of copper provides a more effective thermal cooling solution by delivering a more efficient spreading of heat from critical areas of the motherboard such as the CPU power zone throughout the entire PCB. In fact, GIGABYTE Ultra Durable 3 motherboards are able to deliver up to 50°C cooler working temperatures than traditional motherboards.
In addition, doubling the amount of copper lowers the PCB impedance by 2X. Impedance is a measure of how much the circuit impedes the flow of current. The less the flow of current is impeded, the less amount of energy is wasted. For GIGABYTE Ultra Durable 3 motherboards, this means total PCB electrical waste is reduced by 2X, which also means less heat is generated. 2 ounces of copper also provides improved signal quality, providing better system stability and allowing for greater margins for overclocking.

50,000 Hour Japanese Solid Capacitors

GIGABYTE Ultra Durable 3 motherboards are equipped with solid capacitors developed by leading Japanese manufacturers. With an average lifespan of 50,000 hours, these solid capacitors provide the stability, reliability and longevity essential to meet the power needs of high-end processors and other components running today's most demanding applications and games.

DDR2 1366+ Native Memory Support

Delivering native support for DDR2 memory up to 1366+MHz, GIGABYTE P45 motherboards featuring Ultra Durable 3 technology allow users to take advantage of higher memory performance with lower power consumption to run even the most memory intensive applications such as high-definition video and 3D visualization with ease.

Quick Boost Technology

GIGABYTE Quick Boost provides 3 levels of CPU performance enhancement; a simple click on the desired level delivers quick and effortless overclocking for novice and experienced users alike. Designed with user-friendliness in mind, GIGABYTE Quick Boost allows CPU performance to optimize automatically according to different hardware combination with hardware profiles test approved by GIGABYTE engineers.

New GIGABYTE Dynamic Energy Saver Advanced

GIGABYTE's Dynamic Energy Saver (DES) has once again proven itself as the industry leading energy saving technology with newly introduced Dynamic Energy Saver Advanced. Featuring improved algorithms that provide a more accurate power saving calculation, GIGABYTE Dynamic Energy Saver Advanced provides better energy saving capabilities and enhanced system performance. GIGABYTE Dynamic Energy Saver Advanced is the world's only motherboard energy saving technology with hardware-based Dynamic 6-Gear** Switching. With support for VRD 11.1, GIGABYTE's DES Advanced allows the motherboard to switch to 1 Gear phase switching during idle, allowing for a dramatic increase in power savings.

Designed with advanced users in mind, Dynamic Energy Saver Advanced allows users to take advantage of energy savings with or without the use the Dynamic Energy Saver Utility, for always-on, hardware based power savings. GIGABYTE has also retooled Dynamic Energy Saver to allow overclockers to experience the benefits of multi-gear power phase switching while overclocking, providing ultra stable, ultra smooth overclocking performance.
** Gear 1 phase switching requires 45nm processors with PSI signal enabled.

Wow, I'm interested in the temperatures though. They should put this technology in their AM2 or upcoming AM3 motherboards to give the overclockers a bit of a hand.

Thats indeed very nice...

But about the "Dynamic Energy Saver Advanced", It's a nice feature I also have this with my Gigabyte motherboard but this only works with a cpu running @ stock speeds.

If I set the voltage to manual, it does the voltage scaling... but only at the low stock volts so can't go OC far with that. My biggest frustration is no "absolute" voltage control, it only shows voltage + and - from norm, not what the voltage actually is. Not sure if they've changed that in newer boards.

Gigabyte really changed marketing tactics in the past few years - catering to enthusiasts which is a good thing, especially with Abit leaving the picture.

WoWo this sound awesome for use over clockers and people that try to push too much, I wonder if you gotta lower your cpu voltage lol:rockout:

Finally! Gigabyte uses aluminium dissipation fins, and properly installed heatpipes which will actually cool better! Did they fire one of their team of engineers or something? Cause this board's cooling makes tons more sense than the useless decorative copper + useless heatpipe array.

Dual copper track PCB... mmmm looks like the chipsets, and power phases will run much cooler. I like how none of the ports are blocked as well, by installing two 2 slot cards in CF. Finally, the IDE port is in a actually-useable position!

I've been extremely happy with my gigabyte x48 w/ED2. The selling point for me will be if this new tech will be used in updated x48/x58 and correct DDR3 support like what ASUS is doing for their x58 mobos. By correct I mean I believe ASUS's new board makes it so you can run faster DDR3 than the i7 will allow.

Gigabytes Bios isnt all that bad. Besides, its usually Ameritrends (Megatrends or whoever) or Phoenix that writes it.

Im also wondering why AM2/Am3 boards havent been launched or reported on. Bad form not to include them. I love my Ultra Durable 2, but this puppy sounds delish.

Actually I'd say they finally let go a few of their sales reps (being an engineer myself!!)
