CHIEFTEC Launches L-type All-in-One PC Chassis
Taiwan based high-quality desktop and server chassis manufacturer CHIEFTEC, has today launched its bizzare CHIEFTEC L-type PC case, that might be very interesing for some of our audience. As the name suggests, the case has L-shaped design that allows you to install all your hardware components and then mount a flatscreen LCD monitor to its front. The case design is far from futuristic, but it will do the work if that's the solution you need. The L-type can house ATX or mATX motherboards, has room for seven PCI slots, 3x 3.5-inch HDDs, and a single 5.25-inch optical-drive bay. It measures 255mm x 370mm x 418mm, weighs 6kg, and features a front-facing rail that allows a mounted LCD monitor to be height adjusted. The case design allows for various monitors to be installed, the monitor only needs standard VESA mounting mechanism. Cooling is provided from a 120mm 800rpm exhaust fan, along with air holes to the sides and rear of the case. CHIEFTEC does expect the L-type to reach market in January 2009 at the reasonable price of £50.

Do take a picture next time you are in hospital and see one of those things. We could start a new photo thread: DANGER! Not fit for purpose.
(Thats an English joke - uk)
But its still ugly as sin,.....
As for spills,...what kind of wild parties are people throwing around thier systems. News flash a DVD drive is NOT a cup holder,....LOL.
Spills,...indeed!!!
It is not the news post that creates epic posts and lulz, but the product.
That being said, I still think this product is basically stoneage.
The key here is; just because you can doesn't mean you should...
Not to mention its 1/6 the cost of the $600 ABS monstrosity.
Actually, now I want to see how you would make an "all-in-one" because that would probably be friggin' awesome! :rockout:
I'm surprised something like this gets all the comments when something more important to discuss; i.e. Rambus suing Nvidia, or Segate's 1.5TB drive schmozzle. Geez guys, GROW UP! Its just a company making a product that "sucks".
has tpu had an IQ drop across the whole forum? Finally someone who has some decency to not join the hate bandwagon. It seems that the first opinion is the main opinion throughout the rest of the thread...
Obviously the design flaws in this product are so bad at lot of people want to stress that, yeah, so it sucks. Could be that a forum member is a buyer for a company and they need a unit like this, but don't really have an opinion this thread might actually give them a decent insight with some comic relief. Not saying all posts in this thread are helpful, but not all threads are perfect. How can so many people be wrong? ;) ;)
perhaps this case doesn't actually exist other than as an engineering mock up - if you were going to do market research on whether a case like this would be practical, then posting it on a site like this, with such lively and informed discussion is what I'd do. I could then trawl through the comments (removing the amusing FAILs) and then present it as my own work...
So, there does exist a market for an all-in-one, and it would seem to make better sense to use upgradeable desktop components than non-upgradeable laptop parts, but over all, it's got to look cool (and have speakers, web cam, mic, multi-touch screen, ipod dock, beverage holder, usb missile launcher)...
That enough for you Chieftec?
So cute!
are they want to clone a mac but ended like that shit. atleast they have try it :toast:
There is room for long GPUs, Bulge allows air intake or taller coolers
there is a big space behind my monitor this case would fill just fine
Air moving from right to left is good instead of air blowing at the wall
The cost is well within reason (especially for such a different basic design)
I like the Face (where the DVD and power buttons mount) I wonder if speakers could be mounted in it, that would clear even more desk space and eliminate more un needed wiring.
How can so many be wrong? "Its not so much right or wrong" its just someones opinion. while I dont agree with the IQ drop thing..I notice its very similar on the web,, when someone bashes something a lot of people start spreading it around, Silenx fans come to mind.
That happens a lot when you have a younger audience
