ATI Catalyst 8.11 Released

I'm happy to inform you that ATI has just posted links to its latest Catalyst version 8.11 WHQL drives. This release of ATI Catalyst enables users to verify whether an application is running in ATI CrossFireX mode. The new option found in the ATI Catalyst Control Center system tray, will allow users to verify whether a Direct3D or OpenGL application is running in ATI CrossFireX mode and display "ATI Cross-FireX" logo on screen when the application is actually running. This release also includes some performance enhancements (on all Radeon HD04xxx and Radeon HD3xxx products) that improve Far Cry 2 gameplay from 3 to 10% for single card mode and 8 to 14% in CrossFire configuration. The S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky game also gains 6 to 18% performance in single card settings and 10 to 30% in CrossfireX mode.

Disable any other sound devices in your device manager, then go to the control panel and setup the HDMI audio.

i think we need a performance comparison between Drivers, say the Cat 8.10 after Hotfixes, (PCI E and AGP which AGP are Hotfix Drivers usually) 8.11 and 8.12s, as im getting geared to update from Cat 8.5 Drivers.

Epic fail. I seen mass people having issues wih cross fire and just issues. I can't compare them because I can no longer over clock my own damn card because of something they didn't code right I guess. SO... EPIC FAIL.

Wouldn't say it's an epic fail if only one or a few people can't OC. Depends on the card, the actual GPU, the cooling/temperatures of the card and case, the person OC'ing, not just the driver(s). Try downgrading to a previous set if this set doesn't do anything for you.

actually yes, epic fail .. overclocking is broken via most applications except for ccc and bios mod

Is that just for Crossfire(X) configurations or does that include a single card, what card(s) did you test the 8.11's on W1zzard?

It is their every right to prevent you from overclocking, that is infact any companies right, if people are pushing the cards too hard with little knowledge on overclocking then they can implement measures to prevent overclocking so they don't have to replace that many cards. People should know that when they overclock they are voiding their warranty, and all companies are not obligated to replace cards that were broken due to overclocking- only defects in manufacturing under normal operating stress conditions, because in long run they start losing money. I hate that fact but it is the truth. So those who are whining about this and that should stop because it is only going to get worse, and I suggest you start asking more questions of those who are managing to bypass these measures for help and also should understand what I have said above, if your card breaks because of overclocking it's not the Manufacturers fault, it is YOURS!

end rant.

Behold the mighty words of WIZZARD. :respect:

Can't argue with the man that is for sure.. Yeah it is some kind of coding they messed up I guess. People with cross fire are having game issues now as well. I have all the cooling in the world that I could possibly need on my card, Innocent Crimminal. I have been around the scene, for awhile now. It is not cooling, it is coding.

well have they did the proper driver removal and installation? because if they just installed the driver ontop of another they are wrong.

Nice one Sniper, I enjoyed that. All I have to do now is wait for the AGP hotfix, if they were anything like the beta, I'll see a bit of an increase in ePenis '06 and hopefully beat my previous score.

XD

I presume ATi have gone for stability instead of performance with this release due to all the issues with FC2, S.CS and so on.

yes of course. but from what it looks right now this is more a bug than a feature. as always ati is in denial when asked about it.

once all the software coders go away and develop for nvidia only and people complain about the lack of software will they be happy?

They supposebly recoded the dll and so now the overclocking software utilities don't know how to talk to the drivers. This will probably end up being fixed on the OC Utilty side of things by the coders. STILL SUCKS THOUGH and of course it is still an epic fail .
