AMD Phenom II X4 955 Could be Arriving on April 20th

New information from German tech site Hardware-Infos, has lead to the news that AMD's fastest CPU, the Phenom II X4 955, could be available from April 20th this year. Using the AM3 socket, the CPU is made using AMD's latest 45 nm fabrication process, and is clocked in at 3.2 GHz (16*200 MHz). Sporting 512 KB of L2 cache per core, and a 6 MB L3 cache, AMD have managed to match the 125 W TDP of the recently released Phenom II X4 940.

Might be a good way to go for a first time pc purchase, for someone that planned to play games at an above average rate with ofcourse the homework/school factor.

Mega-JapanWait so when is PII945 going to be out? O.o
There's a date for this but not for 945?
What about that 950 business?
Will this be Black Edition?

Whatever the case, this sounds awesome...
The 950 was defiantly canned. Also it looks like a phasing out of the x3 chips is on the way as AMD has plans to release more dual core chips based on the 45nm process. The Phenom 2 x2 500 series will likely be out in May/June. As for the 945, I'm not 100% if they are going to keep this chip or not. The 945 is designed to replace the 940, exact same chip but with AM3 socket and DDR3 support. However the 955 may have to be priced down in order to compete with Intel who will likely cut prices to marginalize AMD's market share. Which could cause the 945 to be priced at a loss and not worth producing. However it still seems tentatively slated for an April release. So we may see the 5's all released together, 925, 945, 955 as the new Quad-core line up for AMD as the 920 and 940 will no longer be produced. This lends to the idea that the 945 will NOT be a Black Edition as not to compete with the 955 which is a Black Edition. It's the same thing that happened to intel with the i7 920 vs 940, way pay more for the same chip slightly overclocked?

After the success of Kuma, 45nm could be the cake for the X2 Parts.
