NVIDIA Releases GeForce 185.68 BETA Drivers

Less than a week since they released the 185.66 BETA drivers (which in themselves superceeded the 182.50 WHQL and 185.65 BETA drivers in the space of 24 hours), NVIDIA has released yet another GeForce BETA Driver of version number 185.68. From these latest BETA releases, it seems NVIDIA has dropped support for the 8-Series graphics cards which as of now are only supported using the 182.50 WHQL driver. With the recent release of so many driver revisions from NVIDIA, it could be their answer to what EVGA were trying to do with their SLI Enhancement Patches, to keep up to date with the latest releases. This driver supports GeForce 9-series, 100-series, and 200-series desktop GPUs, the only documented change in this version over the 185.66 BETA drivers is:
  • Optimized performance for the PC game The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena

I cannot get a successful install with the 185.65 with Win XP sp3 .... anyone have similar issues with this driver? Anyone getting successful installs with 185.65 / .66 / .68 with Win XP Sp3?

I just get a black screen after reboot (and no prompt to reboot after install)...

On one machine it even corrupted my registry in that i cannot now change resolution even though I have reinstalled 182.20 WHQL... (this was with 185.65)...

I have them install just fine , using the modded inf file

I didn't get a prompt to reboot either, but you have to reboot either way. Did you have this problem before SP3? Sp3 is a waste of time IMO, i just use SP2.

Just successfully got 185.68 installed so i'd say avoid 185.65 and go straight to '68 :)

Agreed... SP3 does not do much for me either except give me a heavy dose of bloat ;)

As to the problem being Sp3 related .. no idea ... i've had SP3 slipstreamed on my install disks for ages now so I would be none the wiser ;)

I install these drivers for vista and the desktop screen is not centered, the edge is slightly cut off.
Should i leave these drivers be, or use another one?

If you are connected by VGA, make sure the screen resolution and refresh are correct for your display, then you should have an auto button on the monitor to center the image.
