Windows 7 to Hit Retail This Holiday Season
Laying to rest months of speculation surrounding the launch date of Windows 7, Microsoft categorically stated that it is readying the OS to ship in time for the holiday shopping season (aka Christmas 2009 shopping season). "With early RC testing and extensive partner feedback we've received, Windows 7 is tracking well for holiday availability," says Bill Veghte, senior VP of the Windows Business at Microsoft. The launch comes ahead of what was earlier speculated, "three years after the launch of Windows Vista", putting it sometime early 2010. Windows 7 launch will be accompanied by the company's release of Windows Server 2008 R2. While the company is yet to provide an actual release date, a recent statement from Acer's Bobby Watkins saying that it would reach retail by October 23 sounds plausible. It comes after the "back to school" season, and weeks ahead of the holiday shopping season.

:p lol.
Well, this is great news...regardless of bugs...my experience with build 7000 Beta and 7100 RC1 so far will not stop me from jumping on it!! :rockout:
i want to give it a try but not just yet im happy with vista maybe try the new build when i get the hard drive back
the rush for seven :)
I used windows vista ultimate 64 latest with all sp updated and had issues with games. I tried Win7 Beta for fun cuz it was free and all my game issues were gone. The vista install was a fresh one on my current rig that which was built on Jan. 9, 2009. I always had problems with vista for the 3 weeks I ran it. Win7 cleared it all up...the only issue I had with 7 was java wouldn't install...I kept sending feedback on every attempt and one day a reboot gave a popup message from microsoft saying some where along the lines of "you have several failed attempts to install java. please follow these steps then try to install again" and they gave me steps to change a registry entry and it was smooth sailing from there. I'm sold on Windows 7. I'm Running RC1 right now without a hitch!! :)
The only difference now is that its for download, as opposed to being given out at conferences and public displays.
