The AMD Athlon 550 was a desktop processor with 1 core, launched in June 1999, at an MSRP of $449. It is part of the Athlon Model 1 lineup, using the Argon architecture with Slot A. Athlon 550 has 512 KB of L2 cache and operates at 550 MHz. AMD is making the Athlon 550 on a unknown production node using 22 million transistors. The multiplier is locked on Athlon 550, which limits its overclocking potential. With a TDP of 41 W, the Athlon 550 consumes typical power levels for a modern PC. The highest officially supported memory speed is 100 MT/s, but with overclocking (and the right memory modules) you can go even higher. Actual memory technology support depends on the chosen motherboard, because the memory controller is located on the motherboard (not in the processor). This processor does not have integrated graphics, you will need a separate graphics card. Inside the box you will not only find the processor, but also a Yes cooler. A lot of games will not work on this processor, because they require the SSE instruction set, which is not supported.
