Those 4 extra cores though!
I am not even worried about the cores, 5950X is supposed to get the best that Zen 3 has to offer, and I really like clocks. But looks like the newer stuff has the clocks that I really want :D

Have you tried 10?
I just made a Win11 USB in the middle of the night and I'll try that first. Linux was working fine so.... Maybe it really is a Windows thing, idk :respect:

Don't mind @freeagent, he is a special case when it comes to TR.
I got my Peerless Assassin for like, 35 € (40 $), I think that's pretty insane for such a good cooler, I understand him completely :rockout:

So I did some "overclocking" on my Ryzen 7600 because it doesn't go above 4733Mhz, and it did end up stable at 5Ghz but it was also stable at 115W and 95C. Now it never goes above 79C, so I'll probably leave it as is.

Hard to even realize that it's already been 8 years since the first gen Ryzens came. Skipped them though and hopped along with the 2600 in 2019 :)

And I, personally, didn't board the Ryzen train until the Ryzen 7000 series was released. Before then, I was one of those "Intel or nothing at all" kind of people.

Today? I'm looking forward to Zen 6 for a big upgrade.

Ah, the Zen 3 APUs. Personally I have a hard time remembering those APU codenames so I have always to check that what they are. :D

Still rocking an old Intel platform as 2nd PC, 8600K @ 4.6 is still fine for 1080p60 gaming with 6700 XT. I have a R7 2700 lying in my shelf but I think that it's slower in gaming. Just bought it from a friend for 25EUR since why not. :D

My first Ryzen was a 5950X. Then I bought a 3100 for my HTPC which I sold later. 1000 and 2000 series didn't impress me too much, and I was still fresh on my 7700 (non-K) back then.

I'm on my 4th AM4 board* yet there's most likely people even here in TPU who still are rocking with their initial X370 boards and a Zen3 CPU, even a 5x00X3D. :D

*first one broke, user error since I had a leak in loop. Sold the second and third one.

In my case, the fault of getting a first ryzen (3600) falls on my 5700xt. Bought the card, put it in my e3-1241e3 system and... let's say the results were a bit underwhelming.
So the platform upgrade was due. I'm still using my first mobo (b450 tomahawk max), although it's actually a second one, replaced after a rma for an audio output problems that came to life after a case swap. Now I'm not even using onboard audio anymore.
Then came the 5800x3d and 6900xt.
Let's be honest, such an upgrade on a same platform could only be a dream before the am4 introduction. It probably won't happen again.

Built my system back in September 2019 with 3700X, later moved to 5800X and now on 5800x3d for over a year. Still holding on to old cpus in case I ever plan to build something with them.

I also bought 4x64GB sticks to go with it, but they only arrived at my company's office at the exact day I departed from the country, so now I'll need to figure a way to have those shipped to me and pray to not have any issues with customs.

I also tried to buy a x670e ProArt locally, but it suddenly went out of stock everywhere. I'll give it some time to see if I can find any, otherwise I'll just end up with a B650 ProArt instead.

And you bought a Netburst CPU with a Bearlake (P35) chipset mobo? Yeah right.
Meanwhile... people run 5800x3d on A320 boards they got with their Zen 1st gen CPUs. AM4 laughs at all other sockets so far, and AM5 will have a tough job trying to beat it.

As a matter of fact, I did*.

*in 2010 when the whole LGA775 went oldschool

Still, without goal post movement, we were speaking strictly sockets. The fact you also need to upgrade your chipset (however P3x and P4x allowed ANY LGA775 CPU) wasn't on the menu.

With it, AM4 obviously wins and will stay that way until the further notice. AMD ain't interested in making AM5 remotely close to that, AM6 won't follow the AM4's suit either. Intel are Intel and will stay Intel, new socket every 2 to 5 years is to stay. I personally don't care, I use the system till it's no longer usable so the only reasonable thing is a complete overhaul because even the best CPU for my current platform sucks. If I were to own a 5800X3D that'd be 2035ish or maybe even later when I finally upgrade.

I went from a 2600 to a 5700X to a 5900X, I loved my 2600 and used it 'till the end of 2022. It was such a good chip.

Source? What you are purporting goes against everything AMD has stood for. since AM3. Then you make a statement like Intel makes a new socket every 2 to 5 years like it was not a response to AM4. Intel sometimes released 3 new CPU architectures in 1 year. As this is the Ryzen Owner's thread go onto the Intel 12th gen thread if you want to throw shade at AMD like longevity is suddenly not something they want when the 7000, 8000 and 9000 chips are all very different but all work in A620 to X870E.

Except for the R7 7840HS MiniPC w/Oculink eGPU.

Oh and the 6 MT Optiplexes.

Suuuuuuper OK.
I used to have a bit of a problem with hardware. :D I sold off most of this when the pandemic hit. Along with boards, some GPUs, and ram -

As this is the Ryzen Owner's thread go onto the Intel 12th gen thread
1. Why are you always so rude?
2. I do own an AM4 system. One of my PCs is based on Ryzen 5 5500.
What you are purporting goes against everything AMD has stood for.
AM4 was a response when AMD were cornered and had gone all-in. It had to show something more than just exceptional value. And it fortunately did.

AM5 is in the comfort zone. There is absolutely zero reason from the business standpoint for AMD to invent something compatible with AM5 if it's cheaper to design a new socket for their potentionally revolutionary upcoming tech.
throw shade at AMD like longevity is suddenly not something they want
Of course. It's us who wants it, not them. They are interested in selling as much everything as possible. They wanna eat too.

Built my system back in September 2019 with 3700X, later moved to 5800X and now on 5800x3d for over a year. Still holding on to old cpus in case I ever plan to build something with them.
5800X3D was 300EUR and normal 5800X was 200EUR when I upgraded to my current CPU from 3600. With 4K, the difference just wasn't worth paying 50% more.

And at least my old 3600 got a good new home as it serves my friend now. Just like my old 1080 Ti.

This is supposed to be a safe space for Ryzen users, you don't have that CPU listed in your Specs. You see you cannot speak without purporting your opinion in front of AMD's position. Lisa Su herself stated that AM5 would be supported until 2027. There is a clear difference in philosophy between AMD and Intel. When Intel were in the leadership position they nickeled and dimed 4 cores for a decade. Even the TIM on their CPUs and the lack of a backplate on MBs were all cost cutting measures.

AMD has always been about socket compatibility Zen 6 will be on AM5 and there will be new MBs to buy as well but you will be fine if you are already there. That is the foundation that AMD created that makes Techpowerup getting posts like "Should I upgrade my 2600 to 5800X3D or 5950X?" or should I change my MB from TUF to Strix" . Those are not 4 core varaints of each other but modern PC parts that scream performance. Just because the narrative of Dual CCD became the "truth" does not mean that a single 12 core will suddenly be revolutionary but I look forward to dropping one in my system and if it blows a 7900X3D away I will definitely enjoy it and my daughter will get a powerful Gaming PC on B650.

Not sure about that. It's a space to talk about being an owner sure, but no one is going to kick you out for complaining about for example, legit ownership issues.

Just clarifying. I know what you meant. ;)
