SLI with different cards

These three bcdedit commands along with setting UAC to low ought to be enough to activate test signing mode and enable Windows to load an unsigned driver. Also these settings will be kept across reboots.

Yeah I understand what they are supposed to do but they do not on my computer. The commands state they are successful each time so they should be working. I followed what you said exactly. it isn't a big deal having to restart and manually do it each time though.

What is a big deal and kind of sucks is being in test signing mode means you cannot play any games that use battleye as an anti-cheat. That's pretty unfortunate and likely means doing SLI this way just isn't worth it for me.

Having enabled Secure Boot in computer’s UEFI BIOS may interfere with these commands. Might be a reason for persistency problems.

Still, as you said, no BattlEye games, like PUBG, with test signing mode on.

Many thanks to everyone for the help! I finally got my SLI working (I think - read on).

PC SPECS
Dell T5500
Win 10 x64 Version 1703 Build 15063.726
2 x Intel Xeon X5660 (12 Cores/24 Logical) @ 2.80Ghz (Standard clock)
28GB DDR3
2 x Zotac GTX 970 4GB (Both on PCIe x16 lanes)

nVidia Driver Version: 388.31
(As per forum recommendations - latest confirmed working version at time of reading).

DifferentSLIAuto Version: 1.7.1 (Win 10)

So SLI option now shows in control panel and I can select 'Maximize 3D performance', also if I select 'Show visual SLI indicator' from the '3D settings' menu I get the green bar when I open up a game (tested with GTA V).

However! Even though SLI is enabled, I still see a recommendation that say's 'For optimal 3D performance, connect the SLI-ready graphics cards with an SLI connector' I should point out at this point, that they are connected with an SLI bridge (I have tried 2 bridges in different directions, both SLI connection on the cards, re-seating the connection etc...). So I am not sure exactly if SLI is working properly or not, the fact its enabled and the meter shows when games load (green bar goes from the middle towards top and bottom simultaneously indicating both are under load) would indicate that it is, however the message is throwing me off? Anyone had any experience or have any idea? My assumption (although this is speculative) is that the SLI is working over the motherboard and not the bridge, if so, any idea what kind of performance impact this will have?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I had the same issue once. I did the same thing with re-seating etc, and it came back after wiggling the connection a bit. I also had to Disable and Re-Enable SLI and then the message went away.
I also suspected that it was not utilizing the bridge, but I never ran tests to confirm before fixing it. (I have run without the bridge for testing purposes and it gave me low FireStrike scores).

Performance impact probably depends per game, and how much PCIE bandwidth the SLI implementation uses. DOOM for example is heavy on PCIe bus in SLI and will only scale positively on dual 3.0 @ 16x. Or so I hear.

I recommend to use a monitoring tool, like nVidia Inspector, and watch 'Bus Usage'.
If that load is high (> 20%), compare it to the load in the same situation, but with SLI disabled.
This way you can monitor the additional load on the PCIe bus caused by the lack of an SLI bridge.

I'm going nutty with trying to get this to work, but I think I'm bearing down on it. Does anyone have this running on Win 7? I think I need to go back to 1.7 and 384.94, because no matter what I do I can't get the newer setup to work!

Bummer. I've been at it a week now (on and off) and I either get nothing or it appears to work and the computer crashes as soon as I click the radio button for SLI. It seems that no combination of driver and differentsliauto will work for me. Perhaps I'll come back at this next week fresh or just wait 'till I upgrade to Win 10 and come back at it then.

Today upgrade Nvidia drivers to 388.59...

I can't re-enable SLI on my setup grrrrrrrrrr

Help me...

I have followed the steps indicated in the previous page (100), message from P!nkpanther) but it does not work for me now ....

A greeting.

Crashing on selecting the SLI button usually indicates that the cards intended for SLI are not compatible or that a third one interferes (possibly one intended for PhysX). Have you ever been able to successfully SLI these cards with an older driver or DSLIA version?

Just venting your frustration doesn't help us in giving you support. Would be better to describe your problem in more detail.
No car mechanic can help you if you call him and only tell him 'car does not work'.
Was the patching successful? Did you try a driver/DSLIA version which is known to work? And pls fill out your system specs.

No, I've only been at this for a week. I did the check on the ID's and the first three figures on the ID's are the same, but I understand that is not a guarantee. Oh, well can't win 'em all. Thanks for the sage wisdom 'Panther, you can't beat experience (rugged good looks comes a close second). Perhaps I'll give it another run when I have some spare time.

1.7.1 Patcher for Windows 10 on 388.59 Works for me:

Before running the patcher, be sure to delete the existing nvlddmkm.sys and nvlddmkm.sys.bak files from the Patcher's root directory before copying the latest one from %SYSTEMROOT%\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\nv_dispi.inf_amd64_xxxxxx.

where's the 1.7.1 patcher download link?

I want the one you used and if you had to modify something from the installer please ...

Learn to read at least the last page of this forum thread... ;)

Hi,
the patch worked fine for me. I get 2 Gtx 1070 (Notebook) running in SLI with 388.59.
https://www.3dmark.com/spy/2902032
But i have the Problem with DX 9 / 10 / application . They stuck with noise on the speaker. Error: PCI Bus overload, but the load is about 5- 8%.
This happen with only one Card active too. Without patch one Card is working fine. Do someone know what is the Problem?

Merry Christmas from Gemany!

Not possible to use an SLI bridge with a 750ti. Still SLI is possible using this patch.

In my hint I was referring to use a combination of patch/driver which is known to work.
That would be 1.7.1 and 388.43 (maybe 388.59 works too).

Patch 1.7.1 can be found here:
https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/sli-with-different-cards.158907/page-98#post-3740425

Works with 388.71 too.
The specific driver I used is "388.71-desktop-win10-64bit-international-whql.exe", if that makes the patching any different.
