The Mobility Radeon HD 4830 was a mobile graphics chip by ATI, launched on March 3rd, 2009. Built on the 40 nm process, and based on the M97 graphics processor, in its M97 M2 variant, the chip supports DirectX 10.1. Since Mobility Radeon HD 4830 does not support DirectX 11 or DirectX 12, it might not be able to run all the latest games. The M97 graphics processor is an average sized chip with a die area of 137 mm² and 826 million transistors. It features 640 shading units, 32 texture mapping units, and 16 ROPs. ATI has paired 1,024 MB GDDR3 memory with the Mobility Radeon HD 4830, which are connected using a 128-bit memory interface. The GPU is operating at a frequency of 500 MHz, memory is running at 800 MHz.
Its power draw is not exactly known. This device has no display connectivity, as it is not designed to have monitors connected to it. Rather it is intended for use in laptop/notebooks and will use the output of the host mobile device. Mobility Radeon HD 4830 is connected to the rest of the system using a PCI-Express 2.0 x16 interface.
