AMD Releases Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition 18.12.1.1 Beta Drivers

No the title is not a typo, AMD has today released their Radeon Software Adrenalin 18.12.1.1 beta drivers. This release is essentially the same as the previous 18.12.1 beta drivers, except for the fact they add support for the Epic Games store. Other than that one inclusion nothing else seems to have changed with no performance improvements or fixes mentioned. The known issues AMD have listed remain the same as well, with some systems running multiple displays still potentially experiencing mouse lag when one display is enabled but turned off. Assassin's Creed: Odyssey is still likely to crash at certain locations on Windows 7 systems. Overall, if you plan to check out the Epic Games store you may want to grab these drivers otherwise you can likely just hit snooze and wait for the next release.

AMD Readies Radeon Adrenalin 2019 Edition, You Can Talk to Your Graphics Card

AMD is preparing Radeon Software Adrenalin 2019 Edition, keeping up with the tradition of big year-end software launched that are high on new features. VideoCardz got a whiff of three if its key features. One of them is Voice Control. You will soon be able to talk to your graphics card through voice-commands picked up from your microphone. Rolling out initially in English and Chinese, you will soon be able to control a lot of things while still in game and not having to take your hands off your keyboard/mouse. These include taking screenshots, telling the driver to record or stream your gameplay using ReLive, adjust display settings such as brightness, contrast, and gamma; etc. It should also take commands to change resolution, rotate displays, move workspaces between multiple displays, etc.

Enthusiasts can rejoice as WattMan could get an expanded feature-set, including one-click overclocking, similar to NVIDIA's "Turing" OC Scanner. This one-click OC feature cranks up not just your GPU's clock speeds, but also video memory. The drivers also support fully automated undervolting, which should make several current-generation Radeon graphics cards more energy-efficient. Lastly, AMD seems to be compensating for NVIDIA's VirtualLink implementation by introducing a more advanced interface - direct streaming to VR headsets. Think Steam Link for VR headsets.

AMD Releases Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition 18.12.1 Beta Drivers

AMD has released today the Radeon Software Adrenalin 18.12.1 beta drivers. Overall this release merely adds support for Just Cause 4, which is set to release on December 4, 2018. While it is good to see AMD improving support for games ahead of their release, this driver offers nothing else tangible, meaning no performance boosts in other titles, changes or fixes to speak of. That said, AMD has listed a few known Issues with these drivers, such as; mouse lag on multiple displays when they are enabled but one is powered off, and Assassin's Creed: Odyssey may crash at specific locations on Windows 7 systems. We have of course uploaded these latest drivers to our download section.

AMD Releases Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition 18.11.2 Beta Drivers

AMD today made available the latest version of their Radeon software drivers, Adrenalin Edition 18.11.2, for supported graphics solutions. This brings with it support for the hotly anticipated Battlefield V game title, as well as some fixes to issues that users have been awaiting. Driver software notifications no longer list erroneously the current installed driver version and, more importantly, the annoying bug affecting some RX Vega users of elevated memory clocks even during system idle states has been resolved.

The driver also brings with it support for a Vulkan extension, VK_AMD_memory_overallocation_behavior, that "allows controlling whether explicit overallocation beyond the device memory heap sizes is allowed or not" as AMD puts it themselves. Things are not all rosy, however, with known issues including potential crashing of Assassin's Creed: Odyssey at some locations on Windows 7 systems and possible mouse lag with multi-display setups with at least one display enabled but powered off. This is disappointing considering an older driver update from September had seemingly fixed it too. The drivers are up for download at the link below, hosted directly on TechPowerUp for your convenience, and the change log is available past the break for those interested.

AMD Releases Radeon Software Adrenalin 18.10.2 Beta

AMD has released today the Radeon Software Adrenalin 18.10.2 beta drivers. These drivers focus on a few key fixes with the first one solving the issue of Vulkan API titles that experience crashing when launching the game. Next is a specific fix for Assassin's Creed Odyssey which keeps the game from randomly exiting when it is restarted after applying Adaptive Anti-Aliasing on multi-GPU systems.

That said, a few issues have been specifically noted. Strange Brigade can still experience application hang when using the DirectX 12 API. Radeon Overlay does not play nice with the latest Windows 10 October 2018 Update. It can cause intermittent instability or game crashes for the time being. Finally, RX Vega series graphics cards may experience elevated memory clocks when the system is idle. Other than that nothing else is mentioned by AMD in regards to possible driver performance improvements etc. Instead, this latest beta focuses on a few key fixes and nothing more. It should also be noted that it is available in 64-bit only, as AMD confirmed earlier today they will not be supporting 32-bit operating systems going forward.

AMD Releases Radeon Software Adrenalin 18.4.1

(UPDATE: This latest driver version apparently also adds support for 4K Netflix content on computers powered by AMD's graphics cards. This solution is akin to NVIDIA's, and has some specific hoops that users must go through in order to actually get Netflix's 4K content to render properly: the new PlayReady 3.0 DRM technology that's Microsoft's master plan to thwart piracy requires Microsoft Edge as a browser, a connection to the monitor via the HDCP 2.2 protocol, an existing h.265 decoder, and a Netflix Premium subscription.)

AMD today released the latest version of Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition. Version 18.4.1 Beta adds initial support for the April 2018 update of Windows 10 (build 1803), (formerly referred to as "Spring Creators Update"). AMD Project ReSX is an eSports Gamer Outreach by Making Radeon More Responsive

AMD's late-Monday release of the Radeon Software Adrenalin 18.3.1 has a big change not chronicled in its change-log, the first implementation of ReSX. Short for "Radeon eSports Experience," ReSX is the code-name of a major effort within the Radeon Software team to address some of the fundamental complaints competitive eSports gamers had been having with Radeon GPUs - click-to-response and frame-time. As an eSports gamer chasing a million-dollar price-pool, you'd want your graphics hardware to have the least frame-time (the most fluid output), the highest frame-rates, and of course the least click-to-response time (the infinitesimal amount it times for a click of your mouse to register as action, be sent to the game-server, and render on-screen, simultaneously.

AMD stated that has approached these problems from two fronts - by working with developers of the biggest eSports titles to optimize their game-engines for Radeon; as well as making under-the-hood changes to Radeon Software. The company is announcing not just marginally higher frame-rates in certain eSports titles, but also significant improvements to frame-time (99th percentile of), and lower click-to-response times. According to the performance numbers put out by AMD, while these improvements may not be double-digit percentage points difference, could still translate into a vastly improved gaming experience, according to AMD.
