i-Rocks Also Introduces an Expanded Keyboard Lineup

In addition to the fairly unique Rev-o-mate, i-Rocks also had a plethora of new keyboards to show off recently. These included updates to existing keyboard lines, new additions using mechanical and electrocapacitive switches, as well as a security keyboard/accessory utilizing fingerprints.

First up, we took a look at the K72E Capacitive keyboard. This uses the same platform as the i-Rocks K72M which uses their own mechanical switches except with new electrocapacitive (hence the E, rather than the M in the name) switches that we first saw in the i-Rocks K70E that was reviewed by us recently. As such, the K72E uses a removable (for modding or otherwise) aluminum top plate with beveled edges for a more defined look compared to the more standard rectangular cuboid normally seen. The top cover especially is on the thicker side of average, and allows for i-Rocks to make replacement covers available for those wanting different color options. The capacitive switches on the K70E were impressive overall, so this version should attract those who wanted those switches on a different aesthetic than the K70E that uses an acrylic top cover and paper skins for customization. Be sure to read past the break for more information on their other keyboards.

i-Rocks Shows off the Rev-o-mate Customizable Dial

We met over 80 brands at Computex this year, and that only means there continue to be more new things to talk about. One such story comes out of the i-Rocks booth, which had many keyboards but also something that was different enough to merit a post of its own. Enter the Rev-o-mate- a no click, free rotation dial that was specifically designed with PC-based content creators in mind. Working with another brand, BitTradeOne based out of Japan, i-Rocks first launched the Rev-o-mate on Kickstarterlast year with an extremely successful campaign resulting in general sales beginning June this year.

The BFROM11 Rev-o-mate, as the product name officially stands, is similar in function to the Microsoft Surface Dial and also the dial on the Logitech CRAFT keyboard we reviewed in allowing quick and precise control over operations such as image scaling, rotation and brush size. At the same time, this aims to also deliver more from both an aesthetics and functional point of view to offer more value for money. For starters, a big, metal knob is used for the dial and there are another ten dedicated buttons for further actions available. The Rev-o-mate supports both Windows and macOS, is USB-based with an internal memory for profiles to be saved onboard, and is supported by a comprehensive software driver that already is compatible with content creator tools from the likes of Adobe, GIMP and ClipStudio with more features planned after retail availability. Oh, and did we mention there is RGB lighting as well?

AMD Marries Cooler Master for Wraith Ripper: Threadripper 2-Designed Mega Cooler

AMD has partnered with Cooler Master to deliver a Threadripper 2-specific cooler. Dubbed the Wraith Ripper (as per AMD's Wraith stock coolers and their Threadripper 2, up to 32-core, 64-thread HCC CPUs), this is a behemoth of a mega cooler that can dissipate Threadripper 2's (perhaps theThreadripper 2990X's) 250 W TDP.

The cooler features addressable RGB lighting that can be app-controlled, and Cooler Master says this cooler has been designed to offer full memory compatibility. The height between the baseplate and the heatsink's fins does seem tall and tidy for the tallest RAM sticks you can find, for sure - even with the eight pairs of heatpipes that drive the heat away from your most precious silicon component. Check our COMPUTEX 2018 pics of this behemoth below.

Cryorig Showcases Its Frostbit M.2 Cooling Solution at COMPUTEX 2018

Cryorig at COMPUTEX 2018 showed the most complex and impressive M.2 SSD cooling solution the market has ever seen with their Frosbit cooler. The Frostbit cooler, which the company had already teased going into the show, is the world's first M.2 cooling solution to feature heatpipe cooling technology - the heatpipe transfers heat from the M.2 SSD through its heatpipe loop and dissipates it in a large volume heatsink. This should alleviate any thermal throttling issues which some NVMe, M.2 SSDs are plagued with with inefficient airflow setups. The secondary, heat-dissipating heatsink can be adjusted so as to avoid contact with other components. This design really brings memories of OCZ's Reaper memory kits, as well as some other after-market modding solutions for RAM memory sticks which featured similar heatpipe designs.

EKWB at Computex: New Blocks, AIO, Coolants, Fans and Servers

EK Waterblocks had been the subject of more than one article over the recent months here at TechPowerUp, wherein we broke news about top management (at the time) having parted ways with the company and this in turn led to speculation about how this would affect the indubitable leader in market share when it comes to DIY watercooling today. Perhaps they felt as much, and had an entire suite full of products to show off at Computex this year. The products showcased here, and in another separate news post upcoming, are a mixture of updates to existing product lines as well as expansion of said lineups to offer customers more options from the company than before.

We began our look with the new Velocity CPU block. Those who kept up with the subject would remember EK recently admitted they could have, and should have, done better with their offering for AMD's sTR4 socket (Threadripper platform) and had recently shown off a new cold plate design to improve on thermal performance. The new Velocity sTR4 takes advantage of this new cold plate and is available in three different top offerings of acetal with a frosted plexi lining to diffuse lighting by the side, a polished plexi top, and a full nickel-plated brass metal top- all of which use the same nickel-plated copper cold plate. Indeed, the Velocity tagline is now used for their entire range of new CPU blocks that share a similar ID for the smaller CPU sockets as well, with a cold plate that looks similar to that of the older Supremacy EVO but we will definitely take a closer look in upcoming reviews. EK did tell us that the new Velocity CPU blocks are one-piece blocks not meant to be taken apart and customized for different socket types. There are a lot of smaller aesthetic changes here including beveled edges, corner cutouts and arrows to indicate the recommended plumbing layout. One other interesting thing to point out here is that EK also designed a cold plate variation to be used with delidded Intel mainstream CPUs via a small circular section jutting outwards as seen in the images below. All of the new Velocity CPU blocks also come with a new mounting plate that supposedly improves on both looks and material strength. Oh, all of these also have RGB lighting incorporated even with the metal top version- the revised EK badge on these blocks is backlit after all.

Leopold Debuts New Keyboards and Keycaps at Computex

Leopold is a brand that not many are familiar with given they stick mostly to the Asian continent, and yet their keyboards are liked enough to warrant distributors and enthusiasts to seek them out around the world. At Computex this year, they continued to show why they merit more popularity by introducing new keycaps using thick PBT plastic and dye-sublimed legends that look better than anything else I have seen before. Indeed, dye-sublimation often results in the dye spreading outwards from the mould and the lettering not looking neat and sharp, and Leopold tells us they have worked hard to solve this issue for good. As a result, they are now offering keyboards in two different keycap sets to begin with- a more traditional beige two-tone, and a gunmetal grey two-tone as seen below. The first keyboard I saw with these new keycaps at their booth was the FC900R PS, a 104-key unit with Cherry MX switches, dip switches on the back for onboard functionality control, a removable mini-USB port and more.

We also got the opportunity to witness some of Noctua's latest accessories. First, there's the 24V to 12V DC-DC step-down converter which basically lets consumers run any Noctua 12V fan in 24V environments. The converter features support for PWM control and RPM monitoring. Nevertheless, it also allows voltage-based speed control since the output voltage scales with the input voltage. The nifty gadget supports fans up to 1A and operating temperatures up to 60°C. On another note, Noctua also showcased its eight channel PWM fan hub that allows users to control up to eight fans simultaneously. The hub draws power via a 4-pin PWM or SATA power cable. The rear side of the hub incorporates a magnet for easy installation on PC cases. One of the more peculiar accessories is the desk fan. With NF-A12x25 120 mm fan in the center, the prototype boasts a three-way Airflow Amplification System (AAS) which allegedly combines helix energy recovery, progressive ow acceleration, and Venturi-effect volume enhancement. The company's next-generation 140 mm U-Type CPU Cooler will be based on its award-winning NH-U14S. Improvements include 30 percent more surface area and seven heatpipes instead of six. The heatsink's asymmetric design will allow for better PCIe clearance and 100 percent memory compatibility when in single fan mode. Noctua will update their 140 mm C-type CPU cooler as well. Based on the NH-C14S, the new iteration will provide improved and quieter cooling performance.

Although the NH-D15 is already a powerhouse of an air cooler, Noctua plans to kick it up a notch. The upcoming model will get the heatpipe treatment as well putting the total to seven instead of the six heatpipes on the previous iteration. The additional heatpipe provides up to 16 percent more volume and contact area between heatpipes and fins to further boost cooling performance. Noctua also had a 65 mm low-profile CPU cooler on display. With a footprint of 95 mm x 95 mm, the cooler is based on the NH-L9x65 and employs a NF-A9x14 PWM fan. It's been resdisgned to provide 100 percent memory and PCIe clearance with Intel motherboards, and on most AMD motherboards including the mini-ITX form factor. It will come with Noctua's award-winning SecuFirm2 socket that supports the AM4 socket out-of-the-box.

Their Zephyrus II fans (still in the prototype phase)deliver RGB goodness via the addressable RGB standard (but there's an RGB-less Zephyrus II fan as well for users who just want the cooling performance on offer). The company's Kiran and Kiran Sync fans also offer more RGB lighting options, with motherboard-controlled operation of the LED lighting of the eleven, translucent white fan blades.

Reeven Presents Impressive Air Cooling Product Lineup at COMPUTEX 2018

Reeven at COMPUTEX 2018 showcased various of its air cooling products, including the company's Ouranos II, Justice II, and Okeanos tower coolers, which ally impressive looks with great overall performance. The Ouranos II is a revised version of their original Ouranos (who would have thunk it), and has been designed precisely to deliver top cooling performance without getting in the way of users' RAM of graphics cards. There's a high performance asymmetrical heatpipe design that better distributes heat through the heatsink, which is then cooled by a 140 mm fan for both silent operation and high air throughput.

The Okeanos REV B is a monster of an air cooler, with a dual tower, dual fan design. One of the fans is of the 140 mm type (the one in-between the tower heatsinks), while the other is of the 120 mm size, to allow for better compatibility. The Okeanos Rev.
