Gamdias Demonstrates PC Enclosures at Computex 2023

Gamdias has diversified its PC case product range with multiple new models introduced at this year's Computex. Their headline "prime lifestyle" E-ATX enclosure is the dual chamber NESO P1 full-tower case - its unique trapezoidal shape was certainly eye-catching and the two glass panels provide a panoramic view of interior-mounted hardware. A modular pedestal system grants horizontal and vertical orientations "seamlessly while leveraging solid airflow and stability. A new case orientation provides a fresher look and unlocks an entirely new building experience." Gamdias states that the NESO P1's dimensions are (L x W x H) 490 x 310 x 495 mm.

A one-touch button mechanism makes it simple and straightforward to access the case interior for builds, upgrades and maintenance. The NESO P1 features fully perforated mesh panels that allow for optimum airflow routes, these can be configured to adjust intake and exhaust functionality depending on case orientation. Gamdias has thoughtfully added 8x8 rotatable PCIe slots and created an interior space with plenty of room (up to 426 mm) which accommodates for the flexible installation of horizontal and vertical GPUs, including the largest examples from the GeForce RTX 40-series.

InWin Puts a Spotlight on Modular and DIY Chassis Designs

At Computex 2023 InWin showcased a chassis concept that has been something of a holy grail in case design for the last couple decades: a fully modular case. By fully modular InWin means that each compartment of the chassis is its own accessory module that can be attached at any 90 degree intersection with tool free interlocks. This allows somebody to effectively build an infinite computer case if they so desired. The case is broken up into three base modules: Mod-I is the motherboard tray with nine expansion slots, some front I/O, and a couple 120/140 mm fan mounts at the front and top. Mod-II has the mount for the PSU, and Mod-III can host 3.5 inch storage bays, a full size GPU, or fans with three more 120/140 mm fan mounts. The rest of the case, being the outer panels, face plates, and covers, are sized to fit around the outer dimensions of these modules so no matter what configuration you assemble there is a combination of glass and steel panels that fit and can enclose the case.

InWin offers two default configurations for buyers to choose from: ModFree - Base Edition and ModFree - Deluxe Edition. The Base Edition includes one Mod-I and Mod-II frame pieces with glass and steel side panels for a relatively basic mid-tower setup, while the Deluxe Edition adds a Mod-III fan housing to both the front and top with accompanying side panels. The third option is to simply configure whatever you like from the available modules. InWin is also working on a unique concept for the Mod-II chassis piece that adds a motherboard tray, vented wooden side and wood-color accent plates to create a very stylish ITX chassis called the ModFree mini.

Streacom and CALYOS Demonstrate the Fanless SG10 Chassis

The time has finally come for Streacom to reveal the fruits of their collaborative labor with CALYOS in creating the SG10 fanless chassis. Though originally based on the NSG S0 (or NSG0), the entire project has undergone a complete redesign over the last few years to deliver the SG10 being shown off at Computex 2023. The new design is a 15 kg metal and glass monster featuring two of CALYOS' specially designed "Loop Heat Pipe" evaporation cooling systems that pull heat from the CPU and GPU, then passively radiate that heat away via two large condensers at the top of the chassis. The main body of the chassis is assembled from steel and extruded aluminium, and features tempered glass side panels. The front, rear, top, and bottom are all open to allow air to move through the chassis. The interior of the chassis uses a dynamic rail system, similar to Streacom's other case designs such as the DA2 and DB4, where adjustable brackets mount to structural rails running along the top and bottom of the chassis. The main components, such as an ATX motherboard and the GPU, are to be mounted to these rails in an X configuration on opposite sides of the chassis, facing each of the glass panels, while the power supply mounts to the floor of the chassis behind the motherboard. For drive support the chassis features an array of extra brackets with slots for screws to affix five 3.5" or 2.5" drives to. The front and optional rear I/O plates mount to the vertical steel structures and can be placed anywhere on those sides.

Streacom had a demo at their booth with the SG10 cooling a Core i9-13900K and GeForce RTX 4080 under a FurMark load with a total system power draw of around 680 W. While the RTX 4080 was sitting at a quite comfortable 75° C, the i9-13900K was stuck right up against its thermal limit of 100° C. Streacom claims the CPU and GPU loops of the cooler utilize identical designs with the only difference being the mounting bracket, however due to the GPU block being mounted directly to the GPU die the cooling is rated at 350 W rather than 250 W. They claim if the CPU loop is mounted direct-die it would perform similarly to the GPU loop, and it's possible to add 120 mm fans along the top, below the condensers, to further improve cooling. Another complication—not unlike with custom water cooling parts—is the GPU side of the cooler requires that mounting brackets and VRM/VRAM heatsinks be made to fit specific generations of cards. As such Streacom only advertises compatibility with the most recent generations of GeForce RTX 3000 and 4000 series, as well as Radeon RX 6000 and 7000, and only those which have a PCB shorter than 280 mm, but support is expected to improve with new bracket kits available after launch. The pricing has yet to be confirmed for the SG10 but it's rumored that it will land around the $1000 USD price point when it launches.

Akasa's Cypher X133 is a Premium Custom Chassis for Intel's NUC 13 Extreme

Akasa might be the most well known third party housing manufacturer for Intel's NUC series of devices, most of which offer passive cooling and full aluminium construction. At Computex, Akasa was showing off its Cypher X133 which the company has been selling to system integrators for some time already, but there hasn't been a public announcement. The reason for keeping this product on the low is because it's using a low profile, server grade liquid cooling solution which takes some skill to install in the compact chassis. That said, the entire internals slide out on rails, which should make most parts much easier to access than in a typical chassis this size.

Even though it's a compact chassis, it can house an NVIDIA RTX 4090 graphics card, in addition to the NUC 13 Extreme, which is no small feat. That said, the width limit sits at 3.9 slots for the GPU, so some custom models with wider coolers might not work. The chassis is very much a premium product with a very nice finish that is easily comparable to high-end notebooks. Hopefully Akasa will figure out a way to make a more DIY friendly version of this chassis, although it's possible that the price tag will be too high for this to make sense as a DIY build.
