computer-1, a Mini-ITX chassis

While setting up their first office many years ago, teenage engineering set out to create their ideal PC case. It was to have a small desktop footprint and be easy to move around. They built it with a laser cutter, high density board and spray paint. A simple, no frills computer case computer-1 has always been a work in progress. the board version worked ok, but the handles couldn't support the weight of the case when moving it around. so after some literal computer crashes, they turned to aluminium for a lighter and sturdier design.

Based on the build-it-yourself design of the pocket operator modular, they landed on the simple Mini-ITX case that they use today. A small desk footprint, compact and portable, computer-1 has a small desk footprint. the lightweight aluminium, and chrome handles, make it easier to move around when you have to. In powder coated pure orange RAL 2004, it's a small, no frills tool for any desktop. Built around the Mini-ITX motherboard and the SFX power supply format, it also fits a dual slot graphics card up to 170 mm. while compact, it's capable of housing a range of parts. From gamer to programmer, engineer and designer, the chassis can be equipped with whatever components you wish.
Update Nov 22nd: Our in-depth review of the computer-1 is live now.

AZZA Outs Overdrive Open-Air Chassis: Resembles a V8 Block

AZZA today rolled out the Overdrive open-air chassis. When viewed from a certain angle, it's supposed to resemble a V8 engine block—well at least one that's clad in copious amounts of plastic in today's performance cars. The chassis features a horizontally partitioned layout, with the bottom compartment housing its motherboard tray that can hold boards as large as E-ATX. All surfaces of the case are made of anodized aluminium, while its structural parts are SECC steel. The upward facing panels are tinted tempered glass.

The motherboard tray has room for graphics cards up to 40 cm in length, and CPU coolers only up to 8 cm in height. The idea probably here is to liquid-cool your CPU, as the case can mount a pair of 360 mm x 120 mm radiators along the bottom panels. The upper compartment has room for drives—two 3.5-inch, and four 2.5-inch—and liquid-cooling components such as pumps and reservoirs. Besides the two radiator mounts, you get a large 200 mm intake fan along the front. The case measures 440 mm x 570 mm x 590 mm (HxWxD), and dry-weighs 15 kg.

Update Apr 26th: AZZA announced US pricing of the case to be $599.99. The specs-sheet follows.

Akasa Releases Turing A50 Fanless Chassis for ASUS PN50

Akasa, a global leader in fanless technology, has extended their Turing fanless chassis design series by releasing the new Turing A50. The Turing A50 has been designed specifically to support the mainboards found inside the ASUS Mini PC PN50 series, which features the latest AMD Ryzen 4000 notebook PC mobile processors in conjunction with Radeon graphics. The Turing A50 is a product at the forefront of fanless technology and combines innovative style with solid functionality in order to create a contemporary Ryzen fanless system.

The ASUS Mini PC PN50 series can feature some of the latest AMD mobile processors: the Ryzen 3, 5 and 7. Whichever you choose, the Turing A50 will be able to keep the APU cool under all working conditions to optimize performance in complete silence. The case utilizes fanless technology, where the solid aluminium core that showcases hi-performance AK-TC5026 thermal compound and gap fillers, efficiently transfers heat from the APU. With the chassis itself working as a heatsink, the excess heat from the APU is then transferred to the external fins via the aluminium core and into the surroundings, keeping the APU cool without the need of a noisy fan. Built with deep cooling fins to maximize the surface area and an aluminium casing, the system functions optimally whilst also existing as a completely silent component.
