MSI GeForce RTX 4090 SUPRIM FUZION Pictured Some More

Earlier this week, MSI inadvertently unveiled its upcoming GeForce RTX 4090 SUPRIM FUZION graphics card as part of a Computex Best Choice Award winner announcement. Allround-PC, a publication with early access to the card went hands-on with it. It turns out, that the card derives its name FUZION from its fully-integrated AIO liquid cooling solution. This is vastly different from the RTX 4090 SUPRIM Liquid X (which we reviewed). The SUPRIM Liquid X uses a 2-slot design for the card, and a factory-fitted AIO that lugs a 240 mm x 120 mm radiator. The SUPRIM FUZION, on the other hand, has a fully integrated liquid cooling solution, with no coolant tubes sticking out!

What this means, is that the AIO pump+block and radiator with its active ventilation are fully contained under the cooler shroud, with internal coolant tubing. There's no external radiator, and no tubes to wrestle with during installation. It's just that the card is very thick, with the source reporting a 4.5-slot thickness. This kind of thickness isn't new, as the ASUS Noctua Edition cards tend to be as many as 5 slots thick. The pictures also seem to show a set of copper heatsinks for the memory chips. We'll be sure to go hands on with this card ourselves at Computex, and hopefully even review it for you in the near future!

MSI GeForce RTX 4090 SUPRIM FUZION Graphics Card Pictured

Here's the first picture of the MSI GeForce RTX 4090 SUPRIM FUZION graphics card. The company revealed this card as it bagged a Computex Best Choice Award. If the name FUZION doesn't ring a bell, it's a call back to MSI's Big Bang FUZION brand which it used for motherboards about 12 years ago. Back then, FUZION denoted the LucidLogix Hydra chip that allowed explicit multi-GPU configurations across GPU brands and types. In 2024, however, MSI is using FUZION to denote the use of an air+liquid hybrid cooling solution.

You'll notice in this pic that the RTX 4090 SUPRIM FUZION has one fewer fan than the regular RTX 4090 SUPRIM X, while having one more fan than the RTX 4090 SUPRIM Liquid X. MSI describes this cooler as having a "short pipes waterway is specially designed to increase pressure for improved water circulation." It goes on to add "A low-profile pump allows more clearance within the cooler for airflow and the micro fin copper base effectively captures heat from the GPU. With three additional reservoirs, SUPRIM FUZION offers approximately 18% more coolant capacity compared to standard radiators, improving water circulation capability. The radiator is designed with denser" In comparison, the RTX 4090 SUPRIM Liquid X features an AIO GPU cooler, with the single fan ventilating some auxiliary heatsinks for the memory/VRM. We'll be sure to go hands on with this card at Computex.

Palit Teases New High-end GameRock Series Graphics Card with Air+Liquid Cooling Solution

When Palit launched its GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER custom-design graphics card lineup this January, it only included GamingPro OC and JetStream OC products, conspicuously lacking a high-end GameRock product that it had for the RTX 4080 and RTX 4090. It turns out that the company had big plans for the brand, and we'll hear all about them at Computex 2024, next month. Along the way, though, Palit gave us a delectable tease of what could very well be the RTX 4080 SUPER GameRock, and it features a hybrid cooling solution.

The card features a 4-slot custom design, with the signature molded acrylic pattern on the cooler shroud that's illuminated, and is designed to resemble ice. The shroud holds onto a trio of large fans, which seem to ventilate a large compound fin-stack heatsink underneath; until the teaser turns the card around to reveal liquid cooling fittings! The cooler features an air+liquid hybrid cooling solution. You can use the card with air cooling out of the box, or connect it to a DIY liquid cooling loop for superior cooling and overclocking headroom; and more importantly, reduced noise from its air cooling solution. Although we expect this card to definitely be an RTX 4080 SUPER product, it wouldn't surprise us if Palit extended the design to even the RTX 4090. We'll see when we run into them on June 4, stay tuned!

NVIDIA Advertises "Premium AI PC" Mocking the Compute Capability of Regular AI PCs

According to the report from BenchLife, NVIDIA has started the marketing campaign push for "Premium AI PC," squarely aimed at the industry's latest trend pushed by Intel, AMD, and Qualcomm for an "AI PC" system, which features a dedicated NPU for processing smaller models locally. NVIDIA's approach comes from a different point of view: every PC with an RTX GPU is a "Premium AI PC," which holds a lot of truth. Generally, GPUs (regardless of the manufacturer) hold more computing potential than the CPU and NPU combined. With NVIDIA's push to include Tensor cores in its GPUs, the company is preparing for next-generation software from vendors and OS providers that will harness the power of these powerful silicon pieces and embed more functionality in the PC.

At the Computex event in Taiwan, there should be more details about Premium AI PCs and general AI PCs. In its marketing materials, NVIDIA compares AI PCs to its Premium AI PCs, which have enhanced capabilities across various applications like image/video editing and upscaling, productivity, gaming, and developer applications. Another relevant selling point is the user base for these Premium AI PCs, which NVIDIA touts to be 100 million users. Those PCs support over 500 AI applications out of the box, highlighting the importance of proper software support. NVIDIA's systems are usually more powerful, with GeForce RTX GPUs reaching anywhere from 100-1300+ TOPS, compared to 40 TOPS of AI PCs. How other AI PC makers plan to fight in the AI PC era remains to be seen, but there is a high chance that this will be the spotlight of the upcoming Computex show.

Leaked images circulating on X (formerly Twitter) reveal a sleek and stylish design, with a 14-inch or 14.5-inch display encased in a slim and portable form factor. Qualcomm has previously showcased eye-catching demo reference systems in a striking red color scheme, but Lenovo's Yoga Slim 7 14 2024 marks the first time a significant laptop manufacturer with actual product images incorporating the Snapdragon X chip. The Yoga Slim 7 14 2024 is part of Lenovo's popular Slim laptop lineup, including models powered by Intel and AMD processors. The latest "Gen 8" iteration featured options for AMD Ryzen 7040 series and Intel 13th Gen Core i and Core Ultra series CPUs.

One notable addition to the Snapdragon X-powered model is the inclusion of a dedicated Microsoft Copilot button. Qualcomm has heavily touted the Snapdragon X's Neural Processing Unit (NPU) performance and its ability to directly accelerate various AI and machine learning algorithms on the device. There have been a few comparison points between Meteor Lake with Intel's NPU and Snapdragon X Elite with Qualcomm's NPU. The chipmaker's X Elite and X Plus laptop offerings are expected to arrive soon, and there are strong indications that this may happen during the Computex trade show.

Update 17:28 UTC: X user WalkingCat has posted images of Lenovo Thinkpad T14s laptop, which can be seen below.

MSI First with Motherboard BIOS that Supports Ryzen 9000 "Zen 5" Processors

In yet another clear sign that we could see some action from AMD on the next-gen desktop processor front this Computex, motherboard maker MSI released its first beta UEFI firmware update that packs an AGESA microcode that reportedly supports the upcoming AMD Ryzen 9000 "Granite Ridge" processors. The "7D74v1D2 beta" firmware update for the MSI MPG B650 Carbon Wi-Fi motherboard encapsulates AGESA ComboPI 1.1.7.0 patch-A, with the description that it supports a "next-gen CPU," a reference to the Ryzen 9000 "Granite Ridge."

A successor to the Ryzen 7000 Raphael, the Ryzen 9000 Granite Ridge introduces the new "Zen 5" microarchitecture to the desktop platform, with CPU core counts remaining up to 16-core/32-thread. The new microarchitecture is expected to introduce generational increase in IPC, as well as improve performance of certain exotic workloads such as AVX-512. The processors are said to be launching alongside the new AMD 800-series motherboard chipset. If AMD is using Computex as a platform to showcase these processors, it's likely we might see the first of these motherboards as well.

Intel Discontinues 13th Generation "Raptor Lake" K-Series Overclockable CPU SKUs

Intel has decided to discontinue its entire 13th Gen Raptor Lake lineup of overclockable "K-series" CPU SKUs. According to an official product change notice, the company will stop accepting orders for chips like the Core i9-13900KS, Core i9-13900K, Core i9-13900KF, Core i7-13700K, Core i7-13700KF, Core i5-13600K, and Core i5-13600KF after May 24th, 2024. Final shipments to vendors are targeted for June 28th. After those dates, availability of the unlocked Raptor Lake processors will rapidly diminish as the remaining inventory gets sold off, possibly at inflated prices due to shortages. This discontinuation comes just over a year after Raptor Lake's launch in late 2022, which delivered additional performance improvements over the previous Alder Lake generation.

Raptor Lake brought higher clocks, more cache, additional efficiency cores, and enough muscle to compete with AMD's Ryzen 7000 CPUs in many workloads. Interestingly, Intel has not yet discontinued Alder Lake, suggesting those 12th-generation chips may still be available for some time. While the death of the overclockable Raptor Lake K-series CPUs is unfortunate for enthusiasts, there is an upside—it paves the way for Intel's current generation Raptor Lake refresh, 14th generation Core processors, to clear inventory before the next-generation processors arrive. The 15th generation "Arrow Lake" Core Ultra 2 series of processors could be teased at the upcoming Computex event in June.
