EK Unveils New EK Nexe Line of Liquid Cooling Products at Computex 2024

After recent troubles, EK is certainly not going anywhere and it came to the Computex 2024 show in force, showing off several new products, including the whole new line of liquid cooling products, the EK Nexe. The brand-new product line is, according to EK, designed from scratch, and unlike standard custom loop products, the critical components of EK Nexe, water blocks and combo units, are injection molded, just like the rest of the AIO products. This should provide the best ratio between performance, design, and price, making the EK Nexe lineup both accessible and quite popular among both consumers and system integrators.

In order to make it as simple and accessible as possible, EK Nexe does not use standard threads and fittings, but rather push-in fittings that lock in place, creating an airtight seal and allowing tubes to rotate freely. The EK Nexe line also uses a modular approach, which means that the GPU water block will be using a universal cooling core or platform specific to certain GPUs and a heatsink that covers the entire PCB. The core will cover entire graphics card and cool both the GPU and the VRM while the heatsink, which is CNC-milled for every GPU model specifically, will handle other critical components on the graphics card PCB. Those two will be joined and offer a design similar to a water block with an acetal top.

Noctua Thermosiphon "Liquid" Cooler Prototype Looks Promising

Noctua, known for air cooling solutions, revealed a prototype for a "liquid" cooling product at Computex. However, this "liquid" cooler has no pump, Noctua's design aims to provide effective cooling without it. We got the chance to see it during our visit to the Noctua Computex booth, and we can say that even in its early prototype stage, it looks good.

Instead of a traditional pump, Noctua's design uses a two-phase thermosiphon. This technology works by heating a fluid, causing it to evaporate and circulate through density differences. The evaporated fluid moves through a vapor tube to a condenser, where it cools down and returns to liquid form. The liquid then flows back to the evaporator, and the cycle repeats.

Cougar Shows Us Cases, Chairs, and a Gaming Couch at Computex 2024

Cougar made a splash of orange this year at Computex. Their gaming chairs prioritize lumbar health, and their PC cases use advanced thermodynamic principles for superior airflow. Their panoramic view cases offer a unique twist on conventional designs. A standout product is the FV270, which features a polyhedral, tempered curved glass perimeter, offering an unobstructed view of the interior. This design allows users to showcase their builds more imaginatively. The FV270 enhances cooling with innovative angled fan placement and a lifted front panel that draws in cold air from below. The case also includes easily removable filters for dust protection and an optional illuminated rotating platform for displaying collectibles, adding a unique touch to the traditional panoramic case design.

The MX600 Mini RGB is another standout, with twin 160 mm fans in a Mini-tower with the option to expand to 10 fans. This compact case features a sloped airflow ramp and square perforations on the front panel increasing airflow by 11%. It supports a top 360 mm water cooling radiator, making it ideal for high-performance builds despite its small size. The MX600 Mini RGB accommodates graphics cards up to 380 mm in length, featuring seamless cable management with reverse connector motherboard compatibility and an integrated universal fan hub for coordinated PWM fan speed and RGB lighting control.

ASUS ROG Concept AIO Cooler Shortens the Tubing with a Clever Bit of Design

We've all had to wrestle with long AIO CPU cooler tubing to find the right position, and still end up with surplus tubing that sticks out in a U-shape, which looks ugly. ASUS ROG has a possible solution to this. The company showed off a concept AIO CPU cooler based on the ROG Ryujin III, which physically shortens the tubing. The radiator-side tubing terminals are located in a central portion, rather than at the edge of the radiator.

This way, you can have the radiator located along the top panel of your case, or even side-facing 3x 120 mm vents, and there would be just enough tubing to reach the radiator from the pump-block (including clearance with the memory modules). The optimal position for this cooler would still be along the top panel, in our opinion. This cooler would fit nicely into the cable-free aesthetic of ASUS BTF builds, where you can have the radiator terminals facing the motherboard tray for better concealment.

ASUS Showcases PSUs with Unique VGA Voltage Stabilizer and GaN MOSFETs

ASUS at the 2024 Computex showed off the latest revisions of its ROG Strix Platinum and ROG Thor Titanium III power supplies that pack a slew of cutting edge innovations for high-end gaming PCs. In their latest revisions, these PSUs meet the ATX 3.1 specification, and offer updated 12V-2x6 (H++) graphics card power connectors, but there's a key bit of innovation here.

Notice the purple 2-pin connector on the PSU? It is a set of sense pins that lead to the 12V-2x6 connectors, and lets the PSU get active feedback from the graphics card (rather than the motherboard) on how the voltage stability is, so it can actively hold the +12 V domain within a tight tolerance band. This mechanism lets the PSU observe voltage drops and spikes beyond the excursion tolerances of the ATX 3.1 spec. ASUS holds the patent for this innovation. Another major innovation with both these PSU lines is the use of modern GaN MOSFETs for improved switching efficiency, and compact dimensions, which vastly improves the layout of the PSU's mainboard, and serves up more room for heatsinks or airflow. ASUS is backing both these PSU lines with 10-year warranties.
