Synology Debuts Embedded DataStation EDS14 NAS

Synology today introduced Embedded DataStation EDS14, a palm-sized, state-of-the-art NAS server combining durability with reliability, implementing Synology's advanced network storage solutions in a wide range of application scenarios. "Designed to survive extreme conditions and harsh environments, the EDS14 is vibration-resistant and complies with the industrial thermal endurance level from -20˚C to 50˚C," said Chad Chiang, product manager at Synology Inc. "Its drive-less design and the support for high-speed SDXC UHS-I SD storage and USB 3.0 further maximize system reliability with performance and capacity."

Synology EDS14 measures at 125 x 125 x 31mm, nearly 70% smaller than an ordinary 2-bay NAS server, and is particularly suitable for areas where space is a challenge. Despite the compact physical size, the EDS14 makes no compromise in reliability by engineering the dynamic cooling mechanisms to ensure CPU health in challenging thermal environments. Optimized for deployment in a variety of environments, the EDS14 can tolerate dynamic DC input voltage from 7 to 24V, is compatible with PoE splitters, and supports 3G/LTE. The EDS14 even comes with multiple mounting solutions, including DIN rail, and a schedulable DC output to power peripheral devices, making it a good fit for versatile deployment.

Synology Releases DiskStation Manager 5.0

Synology today announced the availability of the official version of DiskStation Manager (DSM) 5.0, the latest NAS operating system that runs on DiskStations and RackStations. The interface has been overhauled with clarity and simplicity in mind, helping users to get on with their works instantly. High-resolution mode is available when launched with Ultra HD or Retina display supported devices. QuickConnect service now supports all mobile apps and most packages from Synology, providing anytime, anywhere connection without complex router configuration.

Synology Launches RackStation RS814+ and RS814RP+ NAS

Synology today announced RS814+ and RS814RP+, a scalable 1U 4-bay rackmount NAS server offering high-performance, expandable, and full-featured network attached storage solutions for small and medium-sized business.

"The need for more powerful processing power surges as data usage grows exponentially. The RS814+/RS814RP+ is designed to address such needs, and is also optimized for business environments by providing the performance, reliability, and scalability at an affordable cost," said Michael Wang, product manager at Synology Inc.
Powered by a 2.13 GHz dual-core processor, 2 GB DDR3 RAM and four gigabit LANs with Link Aggregation enabled, the RS814+/RS814RP+ brings forth over 330 MB/s reading and 196 MB/s writing under RAID 5 configuration in a Windows environment. Businesses can further upgrade system RAM to 4 GB in tandem with their expanding workloads and grow the total storage space up to 32 TB by pairing it with an expansion unit RX410.

Synology America Corp. is excited to announce its first media-centric DiskStation, the DS214play. Synology Releases DVBLink Server Package for DiskStation DS213j

Synology today partnered with DVBLogic to extend the availability of DVBLink Server to DS213j. Developed by DVBLogic, the DVBLink Server package is an alternative TV program recording and streaming solution. DVBLink Server turns DiskStation DS213j into a personal video recorder, allows users to record TV programs distributed via Satellite (DVB-S/S2) or Terrestrial (DVB-T) in original quality, and streams live or recorded programs to Windows Media Center, XBMC, Plex Media Server clients, DLNA compatible devices and iOS and Android devices by using DVBLink mobile apps. Synology Releases Peripherals Update with WD Red 3.5" and 2.5" Hard Drives

Synology Inc. today announced the compatibility of its DiskStation & RackStation lineup with WD Red NAS hard drives that include the new 3.5" 4 TB capacity (WD40EFRX) and 2.5" 1 TB (WD10JFCX) and 750 GB (WD7500BFCX) capacities. Synology Announces DiskStation Manager 4.3

Hot on the heels of its successful public beta, Synology advances DiskStation Manager (DSM) 4.3 to an official release. Intel Introduces Atom CE5300 SoC for Consumer NAS Servers

With consumers increasingly sharing and viewing content among different devices, Intel Corporation today introduced storage solutions based on the Intel Atom media processor CE5300 series. The new low power system-on-chip (SoC) enables high definition (HD) video to be simultaneously watched on smartphones, tablets and other smart devices, in real time, while also shared with consumer devices such as a Smart TV. "Streaming content across numerous mobile devices, not just from the cloud but locally, has become a common practice for today's consumers," said Bev Crair, general manager, of Intel's Storage Division. "New storage solutions based on the Intel Atom CE5300 series elevate this to a whole new level by making it simple to 'browse, click, and play'.
