Today, Lenovo announced the latest 8th generation of Lenovo Legion Slim laptops, allowing gamers to harness the freedom that the newest series has to offer. The Lenovo Legion Slim series is all about empowering players to crush their gaming goals while also pursuing their creative passions, and there are more options than ever among the new Lenovo Legion Slim 7i and 7 (16", 8), Lenovo Legion Slim 5i and 5 (16", 8), and—an all-new size for this year—the Lenovo Legion Slim 5 (14", 8), which elevates laptop power and portability to a whole new level. LG Electronics USA announced today pricing and availability of its new 49-inch Curved UltraGear monitor (49GR85DC-B). Priced at $1299, the latest in the UltraGear lineup is now available for preorder thru April 2, 2023 exclusively at LG.com and will include a special preorder offer of a free UltraGear Gaming Pad ($199.99 ARV). Pre-orders are expected to ship in early April.

Bringing gameplay to the next level, LG's 49-inch UltraGear monitor features an up to 240 Hz Dual QHD (5120x1440) curved (1000R) display with an ultra-wide 32:9 aspect ratio. The 49GR85DC-B model also supports VESA DisplayHDR 1000 and delivers an ultra-fast 1 ms (GtG) response rate. Paired with AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, serious gamers are equipped with a fluid, virtually tear-free HDR gaming experience. Advanced gaming features also include Dynamic Action Sync, Black Stabilizer, FPS Counter, and Crosshair.

LG UltraGear, the gaming brand of LG, launched the 49GR85DC-B, a curved ultrawide gaming monitor with 32:9 DQHD (5120 x 1440 pixels) native resolution, and 1000R curvature. The monitor offers fast 1 ms (GTG) response-time, and 240 Hz refresh rate, along with support for AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, and VESA DisplayHDR 1000. It offers viewing angles of 178°/178°, 450 cd/m² maximum brightness, 2500:1 static contrast-ratio, and 95% coverage of DCI-P3. Inputs include a DisplayPort 1.4, and two HDMI 2.1 connectors. There are several gamer-friendly features, such as hardware crosshairs, framerate counters, black stabilizer, and game genre-specific display presets. The monitor includes a headphones amp for the audio input through the DP/HDMI connection, with support for DTS Headphones X.

For those that find a 270 Hz refresh rate a bit on the laggy side when gaming at 2560 x 1440, ASUS has updated its ROG Strix series of monitors with the XG27AQMR model. The R on the end of the model name denotes the higher refresh rate, as well as support for DisplayHDR 600 over the previous model in the series. Although the two monitors are said to be using a Fast IPS panel, the new model has a 1 ms Grey to Grey response time, whereas the older model is rated at 0.5 ms.

All the gaming features you'd expect to find are of course included, such are FreeSync Premium Pro and G-Sync compatibility, ELMB which can be combined with FreeSync and various other ASUS specific features such as GameFast Input technology and GameVisual. The inputs haven't changed from the previous model in the series either, which means there's one DP 1.4 port and two HDMI 2.0 ports, as well as a USB-B input and two USB-A ports, all supporting USB 3.2 Gen 1 speeds, or 5 Gbps. The stand supports tilt, swivel, pivot and height adjustment. No word on pricing, but the previous model retails for around US$650, so we'd expect a small price premium on top of that for the higher refresh rate and improved HDR support.

PC display and projection major BenQ showed off three of its latest Mobiuz gaming monitors at the 2023 International CES. The star-attraction was the Mobiuz EX480UZ, a large-format 48-inch gaming display with an OLED panel. This display provides 4K Ultra HD (3840 x 2160 pixels) resolution with blistering fast 0.1 ms (GTG) response-time, and covers 98% of DCI-P3 with delta ≤2. It uses HDMI 2.1 inputs, and includes a powerful internal speaker-set consisting of two 5 W front-channels, and 10 W woofer. The monitor supports AMD FreeSync Pro.

The Mobiuz EX270QM is a 27-inch WQHD (2560 x 1440 pixels) monitor with a Fast-IPS panel that offers 240 Hz refresh rate, with 1 ms (GTG) response time, and 98% of DCI-P3 coverage, along with DisplayHDR 600 support. It uses a full-bandwidth HDMI 2.1 input and supports AMD FreeSync Pro. Lastly, there's the Mobiuz EX270M, which is the same 27-inch size, but with lower Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, the same 240 Hz refresh-rate and 1 ms response time, but with 99% sRGB coverage and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro support. This monitor packs a 2.1 speaker setup with 2.5 W front-channel speakers, and a 5 W subwoofer.

ViewSonic had a delightful set of displays and projectors targeting the DIY PC crowd, particularly gamers, under its Elite brand of gaming monitors. The Elite XG272-2K isn't just another 27-inch planar WQHD (1440p) gaming monitor, it comes with a blistering-fast 400 Hz refresh rate, support for AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and NVIDIA G-SYNC (compatible); 1 ms response time, 400 nits brightness, DisplayHDR 400, and inputs that include HDMI 2.0, DisplayPort 1.4, and USB-C (90 W power input + DP passthrough).

The Elite XG341C-2K is an Ultrawide (21:9) gaming monitor with a 1500R curvature, and a native resolution of 3440 x 1440 pixels, with a maximum refresh-rate of 200 Hz and 1 ms response time. FreeSync Premium Pro, DisplayHDR 1400, and PureXP Motion Blur reduction. Inputs include HDMI 2.1, DP 1.4, USB-C. You also get an in-built KVM. It is priced at USD $1,500. The VX2722-4K-OLED is a 27-inch pure OLED monitor with 4K UHD (3840 x 2160 pixels) resolution, with 100% Adobe RGB and DCI-P3 coverage, 540 cd/m² brightness, and HDR True Black 400. This monitor will be available from Q4-2023.

ViewSonic today rolled out the Elite XG341C-2K, a 34-inch curved ultrawide QHD (UWQHD) gaming monitor. This ultrawide packs a couple of star attractions—first is its 200 Hz refresh-rate, which is impressive enough for a 1500R curved monitor; and the second is its 1,152-zone miniLED illumination, which combined with its 10 bpc color-depth (1.07 billion colors), and 720 cd/m² maximum brightness, gives it VESA DisplayHDR 1400 certification. Other gamer-friendly features include AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, PureXP motion-blur reduction technology, 1 ms MPRT response-time, and ViewSonic Command Center software (lets you toggle between various game-genre specific presets). The native resolution of this monitor is UWQHD (3440 x 1440 pixels). Display inputs include USB-C with DisplayPort passthrough, and HDMI 2.1. The company didn't reveal pricing.

ASUS has unveiled its first 32-inch ROG Strix monitor with 4K resolution in the shape of the XG32UQ. It comes with all the features you'd expect from a modern 4K display, such as HDMI 2.1 and a 120 Hz mode for consoles. It obviously also has a DP 1.4 port and supports up to 160 Hz refresh rate thanks to its Fast IPS panel. It's certified for FreeSync Premium Pro and is G-Sync Compatible, as well as having a DisplayHDR 600 certification. Oddly enough, ASUS didn't implement USB-C support, nor can the XG32UQ function as a KVM, a feature that has become pretty standard on higher-end monitors like this. It does have a USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5 Gbps) Type-B input and two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A outs though.

The panel meets 96 percent of the DCI-P3 and 130 percent of the sRGB colour space and the typical brightness in SDR mode is 450 cd/m². ASUS has also implemented it's game visual features and what the company calls extreme low motion blur. The panel comes factory calibrated, so the XG32UQ should be possible to use for work as well as gaming. ASUS has also taken a leaf out of Corsair's playbook by implementing a screw mount at the top of the stand, to which something like a webcam mount could be fitted. There's no word on pricing, but based on pricing for similar products, we'd hazard a guess that it'll end up around the $1000 mark.
