Gigabyte's and Sapphire's Radeon RX 7900-series Cards Pictured

Courtesy of VideoCardz, we now know what Gigabyte's and Sapphire's upcoming Radeon RX 7900-series cards will look like. Gigabyte will offer at least two different custom designed models, with the Aorus Elite being the higher-end one and the Gaming OC being the mainstream one. Both appear to come in RX 7900 XTX and RX 7900 XT SKUs. The Aorus Elite is said to be a 3.5-slot card sporting three 8-pin power connectors, whereas the Gaming OC is a 2.5-slot card with two 8-pin power connectors.

The Sapphire card in question is the Nitro+ which has been given a design overhaul compared to the Radeon RX 6000-series cards and it's quite a bright card thanks to its silver coloured shroud. We're once again looking at a massive cooler here, which is wider than three slots, but maybe not quite 3.5-slots wide. Unsurprisingly, Sapphire has kitted out the card with three 8-pin power connectors. None of the three cards have a USB-C port and it appears that those looking to get an AMD Radeon RX 7900-series card with a USB-C port, would have to go for the reference design cards.

Alphacool Releases Eisblock Aurora Water Blocks for Various Custom RTX 4090 Cards

More performance for GeForce RTX 4090! With the Eisblock Aurora, Alphacool presents new, innovative coolers for active water cooling of Gigabyte, ASUS, Palit as well as Gainward graphics cards. In order to dissipate the enormous waste heat of this graphics card generation as effectively as possible, numerous optimizations have been made to the water cooler compared to the previous models. The fin structure has been adapted and allows a very effective water flow while simultaneously increasing the cooling surface. The modified jet plate with improved inflow engine ensures optimum distribution of the water on the cooling fins.

The fully chrome-plated copper base is resistant to acids, scratches and damage. Additionally, the chrome plating provides homogeneity and shine that cannot be achieved by nickel plating. The illumination from the digitally addressable RGB LEDs is even better distributed throughout the cooler thanks to the chrome plating. The Aurora design of the GeForce RTX 40XX Eisblock Generation is visually quiet and sleek because only one O-ring runs around the entire cooler. Also, the design around the cooling fins and jetplate makes for a cleaner look.

Gigabyte's B760 Aorus Elite Makes an Early Appearance

Not entirely unexpected, pictures of the first B760 motherboard, or at least its packaging and the board inside the packaging, has made an appearance online. We're around a month or so from the expected announcement of Intel's more cost effective 700-series chipset, which will likely follow the Z790 chipset by adding more PCIe 4.0 lanes, but otherwise differ very little from the current B660 chipset.

No actual details were provided when it comes to the specs of the Gigabyte B760 Aorus Elite AX DDR4, but it's likely that this will be the last generation of DDR4 motherboards. This is because it's unlikely that Intel will support DDR4 memory on future desktop PC platforms. What we can spot through the antistatic bag, is a board design that is very similar to Gigabyte's current B660 Aorus Elite AX DDR4, but with a new motif on the chipset and NVMe drive heatsinks. In fact, the board layout appears to be near identical from what little we can see, but there are some clearly visible component placement that can be seen and compared to the current model. Hopefully we'll get some better pictures of this board in the near future from the leaker.

SSD Shipments Through Global Distribution Channels Reached 127 Million Units in 2021, Up 11% YoY

Affected by tight wafer supply, lead time for SSD controller IC and PMIC components was prolonged to 32 weeks in 2021. All controller IC suppliers generally give priority to supplying NAND Flash manufacturers, so production at module factories could not meet SSD demand in the retail market during that time. In 2H21, the supply of SSD-related components improved quarter by quarter and various module manufacturers boosted their SSD shipments in order to upsurge their annual performance. According to TrendForce research, SSD shipments through global distribution channels reached 127 million units in 2021, with an annual growth rate of 11%.

This global SSD ranking is based on the shipment volume of module houses' own in-house brands in the distribution channel market as a standard for calculation and NAND Flash manufacturers are not included. NAND Flash manufacturer supply accounts for approximately 42% of the overall distribution channel market while module factory shipments account for approximately 58%. When SSD-related components were hard to come by, NAND manufacturers' supply chain management occupied a superior position compared to module houses, so NAND manufacturers' market share in the overall distribution channel market increased compared with 2020.
