In an interesting turn of events, AMD's latest flagship videocard, RX Vega 64, has seen a gaming performance analysis from fellow publication computerbase.de, which brought about some interesting - and somewhat inspiring findings. In their test system, which was comprised of a 4.3 GHz Intel Core i7-6850K (6 cores), paired with 16 GB of DDR4-3000 memory in quad-channel mode, and Crimson Relive 17.9.3 / GeForce 385.69 drivers, the publication found that the Vega 64 was outperforming the GTX 1080 Ti by upwards of 23%, and that percentage increases to 32% when compared to NVIDIA's GTX 1080. The test wasn't based on the in-game benchmark, so as to avoid specifically-optimized scenarios.

While we're still waiting to see AMD's Vega graphics cards undergo a proper custom treatment from the company's AIB partners (MSI included), Micro-Star International has announced at the Tokyo Game Show that they'll be launching yet another version of NVIDIA's GTX 1080 Ti graphics card. This new design revision picks up the triple fan design that has been the staple of MSI's Lightning series of graphics cards, and applies it to the Gaming X brand. The MSI GTX 1080 Ti Gaming X Trio will thus feature 3x of the company's Torx 2.0 fans. The card features a 2.5-slot design that exhausts the hot air to the inside of your case (a minor inconvenience, since MSI's graphics cooling designs are generally considered some of the best out there), and features MSI's Mystic Light RGB tech.

The EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 ELITE cards are now available with 12 GHz of GDDR5X memory, giving it 528 GB/s of memory bandwidth! LinusTechTips has received an Alienware Area 51, the boutique system which Alienware has developed through its exclusive partnership with AMD for the 16-core, 32-thread Threadripper CPUs.

The system was tested using a proprietary Dell/Alienware motherboard, as well as 32 GB (4x 8 GB) of 2666 MHz DDR4 RAM. Graphics were handled by a Founders Edition GTX 1080 Ti, and storage was etched on a SanDisk A400 256 GB NVME drive (Up to 2050/700 MB/s Sequential Read/Write). The nature of the benchmarked systems, with their myriad of hardware parts, means that the benchmarks are not 100% representative of CPU performance deltas between the tested processors; however, they do put out some interesting numbers. The other HEDT system to be tested was an Intel-based X299 system with a stock Intel Core i9-7900X (10 cores, 20 threads) on an ASUS Prime X299 Deluxe, 4x 8 GB of 3200 MHz DDR4 memory, the same GTX 1080 Ti Founders Edition, and a 512 GB Samsung 950 Pro NVME SSD.

Colorful announced that its flagship graphics card, the iGame GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Kudan, broke several 3DMark records. The company revealed that the GTX 1080 Ti ASIC driving each Kudan graphics card is binned in a "best of 100" lot (the best performing ASIC from 100 are picked out for the Kudan SKU, leaving the rest for other SKUs by the company). Colorful ran the card at an out of the box OC of 2050 MHz core, yielding 3DMark graphics scores of 30,328 points (graphics score) in Firestrike, 14,858 points (graphics score) in Firestrike Extreme, 7,406 points (graphics score) in Firestrike Ultra, and 10,445 points (graphics score) in Timespy.

Nordic Hardware is running a piece where they affirm their sources in the Swedish market have confirmed some retailers have already received first pricing information for AMD's upcoming RX Vega graphics cards. This preliminary pricing information places the Radeon RX Vega's price-tag at around 7,000 SEK (~$850) excluding VAT. Things take a turn towards the ugly when we take into account that this isn't even final retail price for consumers: add in VAT and the retailer's own margins, and prospective pricing is expected at about 9,000 SEK (~$1093). Pricing isn't fixed, however, as it varies between manufacturers and models (which we all know too well), and current pricing is solely a reference ballpark.

There is a possibility that the final retail prices will be different from these quoted ones, and if latest performance benchmarks are vindicated, they really should be. However, Nordic Hardware quotes their sources as saying these prices are setting a boundary for "real and final", and that the sentiment among Swedish retailers is that the pricing "Feels wrong". For reference, NVIDIA's GTX 1080 Ti is currently retailing at around 8,000 SEK (~971) including VAT, while the GTX 1080, which RX Vega has commonly been trading blows with, retails for around 5600 SEK (~$680) at the minimum. This should go without saying, but repare your body for the injection of a NaCl solution.

MSI's flagship Lightning series made a comeback to the green side with the NVIDIA GTX 1080 Ti GPU, and they are now available for purchase on Newegg.com in the USA. In a relatively pleasant surprise, they are also selling for a lot lower than what we were originally told by MSI, and at $869.99 for the top-of-the-line Lightning Z, it comes in at $170 more than what the NVIDIA reference (no more Founders Edition price hike, if you may recall) is listed for.

We took a detailed look at the MSI GTX 1080 Ti Lightning Z earlier this week and were quite impressed with the overall build quality and cooler: "MSI's GTX 1080 Ti Lightning is huge, having three slots, taking up 32 cm in length and 14 cm in height - make sure your case has room for it. EVGA's product manager Jacob Freeman has just confirmed the launch day of EVGA's upcoming end-all-be-all GTX 1080 Ti Hybrid FTW3 video card: it's now a relatively set in stone July 10th. Expect immediate availability for the video card on that day, though for now, not even Freeman has an idea if it will be available for ordering outside of EVGA's own online website.

The GTX 1080 Ti Hybrid FTW3 makes use of a hybrid, air and water-cooling solution. The GPU die itself is cooled by an Asetek all-in-one closed-loop liquid cooler, while memory and VRM make do with a traditional heatsink and fan combination. This provides the benefit of liquid cooling on the GPU core without the added expense of a full-cover waterblock, thus bringing the pricing a little lower than full-coverage waterblocks, but with increased performance over a purely air-cooled part. The GTX 1080 Ti HYBRID FTW3 shares the same specs as the 1080 Ti SC2 HYBRID, Hydro Copper, and Hydro Copper SC2 graphics cards, with a 1,556 MHz base and 1,670 MHz boost clock, 11 Gbps GDDR5X memory and 2x 8-pin power connectors. Pricing or overclocking headroom weren't detailed at all.

GIGABYTE, which had two variants of its flagship GeForce GTX 1080 Ti graphics card, the air-cooled Aorus GTX 1080 Ti Xtreme Edition, and the WaterForce WB Xtreme Edition, that comes with a factory-fitted full-coverage water-block; introduced a third variant, the WaterForce Xtreme Edition. Unlike the WaterForce WB Xtreme Edition, which you plumb to your own water-cooling loop, this card comes with a self-contained AIO liquid-cooling loop. The cooling solution consists of an pump-block base which makes contact with the GPU and a base-plate that draws heat from the VRM and memory; and a 120 mm radiator with an included 120 mm fan. The cooler-shroud features some groovy acrylic windows, and RGB LED lighting controlled by GIGABYTE RGB Fusion software.

The card is based on the same exact PCB as its two other siblings, with the same clock speeds of 1607 MHz core, 1721 MHz GPU Boost, and 11.2 GHz (GDDR5X-effective) memory out of the box, against NVIDIA-reference clocks of 1480 MHz core, 1582 MHz GPU Boost, and 11.00 GHz memory. The software-enabled "OC mode" runs the card at 1632 MHz core, 1746 MHz GPU Boost, and 11.44 GHz memory. The card draws power from a pair of 8-pin PCIe power connectors. Display outputs include three DisplayPort 1.4, three HDMI ports (two on the rear panel, one internal HDMI port for VR headsets); and a dual-link DVI connector. The company didn't reveal pricing.

You probably took a long, hard read at our article covering a single-minded user's experience of his new Vega Frontier Edition. Now, courtesy of PCPer, and charitable soul Ekin at Linus Tech Tips, we have some more performance benchmarks of AMD's latest (non gaming specific) graphics card.

Starting with 2560x1440, let's begin with the good news: in what seems to be the best performance scenario we've seen until now, the Vega Frontier Edition stands extremely close to NVIDIA's GTX 1080 Ti video card in Fallout 4. It trails it for about 10 FPS most of the test, and even surpasses it at some points. These numbers should be taken with a grain of salt regarding the RX Vega consumer cards: performance on those models will probably be higher than the Frontier Edition's results. And for the sake of AMD, they better be, because in all other tests, the Frontier Edition somewhat disappoints. It's beaten by NVIDIA's GTX 1070 in Grand Theft Auto V, mirrors its performance in The Witcher 3, and delivers slightly higher performance than the GTX 1070 on Hitman and Dirt Rally (albeit lower than the GTX 1080.)

PC World posted a preview of an AMD Radeon Pro Vega Frontier Edition graphics card, and reported some interesting observations about the card ahead of its review NDA. The tech publication compared the air-cooled Pro Vega Frontier Edition against NVIDIA's fastest consumer graphics card, the TITAN Xp. It did reveal performance numbers of the two cards in two compute-heavy tests, SPECViewPerf 12.1 and Cinebench R15 (OpenGL test), where the Vega FE significantly outperforms the TITAN Xp. This shouldn't come as a shocker because AMD GPUs tend to have a strong footing with GPU compute performance, particularly with open standards.

It's PC World's comments on the Vega card's gaming performance that might pique your interest. In its report, the publication comments that the Radeon Pro Vega Frontier Edition offers gaming performance that is faster than NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 1080, but slightly slower than its GTX 1080 Ti graphics card. To back its statement, PC World claims to have run the Vega Frontier Edition and TITAN Xp in "Doom" with Vulkan API, "Prey" with DirectX 11, and "Sniper Elite 4" with DirectX 12. You must also take into account that the Radeon Pro Vega Frontier Edition could command a four-figure price, in the league of the TITAN Xp; and that gamers should look forward to the Radeon RX Vega series, bound for a late-July/early-August launch, at price-points more appropriate to their competitive positioning. The new Aorus GTX 1080 Ti Waterforce WB Xtreme Edition comes with a factory-fitted full-coverage water-block, which you plumb to your water-cooling loop. The block is made of nickel-plated copper, with a clear acrylic top, and an aluminium+plastic top-plate with a cutout the shape of the Aorus logo. The acrylic top is studded with RGB multi-color LEDs, which can be controlled using GIGABYTE RGB Fusion software.

The Aorus GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Waterforce WB Xtreme Edition comes with out of the box clock speeds of 1607 MHz core, 1721 MHz GPU Boost, with a software-enabled "OC mode" which cranks up clocks to 1632/1746 MHz; compared to NVIDIA-reference clocks of 1480/1582 MHz. The memory is left untouched at 11 GHz (GDDR5X-effective). The card draws power from a pair of 8-pin PCIe power connectors; and features a similar, VR-optimized display connector layout to its air-cooled sibling, which includes three DisplayPort 1.4, two HDMI 2.0, and one dual-link DVI-D where you'd expect them, plus a third HDMI connector near the card's tail end (facing the front of your case). The company didn't reveal pricing.

MSI's reputation in thermal design is well-known to be excellent. The improved TRI-FROZR design on the GTX 1080 Ti LIGHTNING Z utilizes two 10cm and one 9 cm TORX 2.0 Fans combining the advantages of both traditional fan blade and dispersion fan blade, generating huge amounts of airflow while remaining virtually silent. ZOTAC introduced the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti AMP Extreme Core Edition graphics card (model: ZT-P10810F-10P). Positioned between its flagship air-cooled AMP Extreme and AMP Edition SKUs, the AMP Extreme Core Edition retains the product design of the AMP Extreme, but comes with lower clock speeds. The card ships with factory-overclocked speeds of 1607 MHz core, 1721 MHz GPU Boost, and 11.2 GHz (GDDR5X-effective) memory; compared to the 1645/1759 MHz the AMP Extreme comes with, and the 1480/1582 MHz NVIDIA-reference clocks. Besides clock speeds, everything is identical between the AMP Extreme Core Edition and the original AMP Extreme. There could be a minor price difference between the two.
