ASUS today announced Mini PC PL64, an industrial mini PC featuring a fanless design and powered by up to a 12th Generation Intel Core i7 (15 W) processor. Each PL64 unit has been subjected to a battery of reliability tests, and the fanless design ensures optimal performance even in ambient temperatures of up to 50°C. This mini PC features dual LAN ports, including 2.5 Gbps Ethernet, dual COM ports, five USB ports, along with triple 4K display support at 60 Hz.

Mini PC PL64 employs a new, almost-silent fanless design that minimizes dust ingress into the chassis to prolong product life. DPVR E4 Announced with November Launch, Aims to Dominating the Consumer Market for Tethered PC VR Headsets

DPVR, a leading provider of virtual reality (VR) devices, has today announced the launch of its newest PC VR gaming headset with the introduction of the 'DPVR E4,' which is aimed at dominating the consumer market for tethered PC VR headsets. In a different category altogether from standalone VR headsets such as the Meta Quest 2 and Pico 4 devices, the DPVR E4 provides PC VR gamers with a tethered alternative that offers a wider field of view (FoV), in a more compact and lighter form factor, as well as offering a more affordable solution compared to high-price tag devices such as the VIVE Pro 2.

DPVR has been making VR headsets for seven years. Prior to E4's launch, the company's efforts were primarily directed towards the B2B market, with a specialized focus on the education and medical industries. Over the last decade, DPVR has completed three successful funding rounds, which the company has used for its research and development efforts into furthering its VR hardware and software offerings. This latest announcement from DPVR marks the company's first step into the consumer VR headset market.

LG Launches the UltraGear OLED With 240 Hz Refresh Rate

The first flat OLED gaming monitor is here and it's unsurprisingly from LG and part of its UltraGear range of gaming products and goes under the model name 27GR95QE-B. Although it's being touted as a 27-inch display, the screen size is only 26.5-inches, which is a bit unusual. The resolution is 2560 x 1440, with a pixel pitch of 110.8 PPI and the refresh rate goes up to 240 Hz. The OLED panel is capable of delivering 1.07 billion colours and delivers a colour gamut of 98.5 percent of the DCI-P3 standard. LG claims the display has a GtG response time of 0.03 ms which is so far unheard of on a consumer display. LG doesn't supply a brightness rating, nor does the UltraGear OLED appear to have any kind of HDR certification, but supports HDR10, although considering it's an OLED panel, this shouldn't be much of a concern.

There's support for FreeSync Premium and VRR, with the display being G-Sync compatible as well. Other gaming related features include the typical things you'd find on most gaming displays today, such as an FPS counter, a built in crosshair and of course some RGB lighting features. Connectivity wise the UltraGear OLED comes with two unspecified HDMI ports and one unspecified DisplayPort input, as well as one upstreams USB 3.0 port (Type-B) and two downstreams USB 3.0 ports (Type-A). The monitor also has an S/PDIF out and a headset jack, which suggests that it does audio over USB. Finally there's a barrel plug for the 19 V power brick. The display also has support for DTS HP:X where HP stands for headphones, but there are no built in speakers. The stand supports tilt, height, swivel and pivot adjustments and can be adjusted up to 11 cm in height. LG is asking US$999.99 for the UltraGear OLED, which might be a bit more than what most people would be willing to pay for it, but it's at least a first step towards a range of new OLED gaming monitors.

LG Launches 14- and 16-inch Ultra PC Laptops in Europe

LG's Intel based gram-series of notebooks have proven quite popular in the Ultrabook segment. However, its Ultra PC models are built around AMD hardware and although there have been a 13.3-inch model in the past, the company has announced its new 14- and 16-inch models. Both models are based around either a Ryzen 5 5625U or a Ryzen 7 5825U processor, which is built on AMD's Barcelo chips. This sadly means that features like USB4, DDR5/LPDDR5 and PCIe 4.0 support are out the window. This is because Barcelo is a refresh of Cezanne, which means both CPU families based on the Zen 3 architecture. On the plus side, this means the pricing will be quite competitive, but more on that in a second.

The 14-inch model measures 313.9 x 220.45 x 16.3 mm and weighs in at 1.29 kg, whereas the 16-inch model is slightly larger—for obvious reasons—and measures 356.3 x 248.6 x 16.3 mm, but remains fairly portable at 1.6 kg. The display on both the 14- and 16-inch models features 1920x1200 resolution, with the 14-inch model having a brighter display at 300 vs 250 nits for the 16-inch model. Neither display is what you'd call impressive though. Other features include up to 16 GB of dual-channel LPDDR4X memory, up to 1 TB of storage, HDMI out, a USB-C port with DP Alt mode and USB PD support, two USB-A ports, a microSD card slot, an audio jack and a power connector for the charger. WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1, as well as a fingerprint reader are also part of the package. Battery life is said to be up 21 and 20 hours respectively when it comes to video playback, with the 14-inch model managing 16.5 hours in MobileMark 2018, whereas the 16-inch model only manages 15 hours flat. LG will offer a range of SKUs that start at €1,199 for the 14-inchers and €1,399 for the 16-inchers, all of which should be available at some point this month.

ASUS Unveils the ROG Crosshair X670E Hero and ROG Crosshair X670E Extreme

During AMD's Meet the Experts event, ASUS revealed more details about its ROG Crosshair X670E Extreme, a board the company revealed during Computex, but didn't show the rear I/O of. However, ASUS also unveiled the ROG Crosshair X670E Hero, a board the company hadn't shown off prior to the AMD event. Both boards will feature a pair of USB4 ports, with both ports supporting DisplayPort Alt Mode. Both boards feature a further two USB-C ports, plus seven plus USB-A ports. The Extreme features 10 Gbps and 2.5 Gbps Ethernet, whereas the Hero gets to make do with 2.5 Gbps Ethernet, although it gains an HDMI output. Both boards have a full set of audio jacks and WiFi 6E support, as well as a rear mounted clear CMOS and BIOS FlashBack button.

Taking a closer look at the Hero board, it has two PCIe x16 PCIe slots, plus a single, open-ended PCIe x1 slot. The board supports four M.2 NVMe slots for SSDs and comes with a PCIe 5.0 card for a fifth drive. It also has what appears to be six SATA ports, a front header for a 20 Gbps USB 3.2 2x2 USB-C port that also supports up to 60 W USB PD and Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+. The Hero board will be kitted out with an 18 phase power design, with the Extreme getting a 22 phase design, both with a 110 Ampere power stage. ASUS has moved its audio solution to the ALC4082 USB based audio codec and at least the Extreme will have an ESS ES9218 audio codec. ASUS is also bringing over the Q-Release solution for graphics cards to these boards, as well as the Q-Latch for M.2 SSDs.

LG Launches Curved 49-inch 5120x1440 Display with 144 Hz Refresh Rate

For those looking for a more sizable display, LG has just released the 49WQ95C-W, which is a curved 49-inch dual QHD Nano IPS based monitor with a 144 Hz refresh rate. It's part of LG's UltraWide series of monitors rather than its UltraGear series, but it should still be suitable for gaming, even though that isn't its primary target market. There's support for FreeSync Premium Pro and the display is also G-Sync compatible, although LG doesn't provide a refresh rate range, only the upper refresh rate of 144 Hz. The response time is 5 ms GtG. LG has also thrown in some of its more gamer focused features such as dynamic action sync which reduces input lag, black stabilizer and a crosshair function.

The 32:9 panel has a colour gamut that meets 98 percent of the DCI-P3 standard, a contrast ratio of 1000:1 and a typical brightness of 400 cd/m². The panel is DisplayHDR 400 certified and LG claims the 49WQ95C-W is factory colour calibrated. Connectivity consists of two HDMI 2.0 ports, one DP 1.4, as well as a USB Type-C port that also supports 90 W power delivery. For some odd reason, LG only added a USB 2.0 Type-B upstreams port, yet there are two USB Type-A 3.0 downstreams ports. The monitor also has a headphone jack, as well as a pair of 10 W speakers built in. The stand supports height adjustment, as well as tilt and swivel. LG didn't provide any official pricing.

ASRock is Expected to Launch Multiple Gaming Monitors

Several new ASRock products have passed through the KCC, which is the Korean equivalent of the FCC and normally this would be a new motherboard or maybe some small form factor system, but surprisingly enough, we're looking at gaming monitors. The leak comes courtesy of @momomo_us who's dug up a lot of juicy details on two of the models, whereas we only know the basic specs for the other models. First up, we have the PG34WQ15R, which is a 34-inch curved VA display with a 3440x1440 resolution. It supports FreeSync Premium and has a refresh rate range of 48 to 165 Hz over DisplayPort and 48-100 Hz over HDMI, which seems to be an HDMI 1.4 limitation. The next model is the PG27FF, which is a regular 1080p IPS display that also supports FreeSync Premium, here with a refresh rate range of 48 to 165 Hz over both DP and HDMI. There appears to be multiple sub SKUs of this model, but all start with PG27F.

Then we have the PG32QF, which should be a flat 32-inch display, with unknown specs, but the Q in the model name suggests that it's a 1440p monitor. Finally we have the PG42U, where the U in the model name suggests it's a 4K 42-inch display. The stand looks nearly identical to the one ASUS uses for its ROG Strix XG43UQ 4K screen and the specs are likely to be quite similar too, which means we might see support for 144 Hz or higher refresh rates. All four displays are manufactured by TPV Technology, which produces its own monitors under the AOC, Envision and Philips brands. It's unknown when these new monitors from ASRock will launch, but considering they've passed through certification, it's highly likely that they'll turn up sometime later this year.
