LTX 2023 Recap: Reaching Critical Mass as an Annual Consumer Event

The LTX Event has returned in its annual two-day form in beautiful Vancouver after the COVID break. With blistering temperatures outside, it was great to see the turnout and having it come out of the four-year pause that the pandemic demanded. Compared to 2019, where there was a handful of brands, and the 2023 location has moved slightly, from the older Canada Place convention center, to its newer, adjacent building. At roughly USD $40 for a visitor's day pass, one could argue that it isn't even that cheap, but even so upon arriving there on Saturday, there was a line running along the entire length of the building for visitors to enter with a pre-purchased pass in hand.
Just like in 2019, the event is propped up around several core pillars. There are interactive events like a case toss competition, live stage shows with various topics, a LAN party section, as well as an ever greater mix of brands to allow excited end-users to get an up close look at featured products and even try them out. The entire event also provides brands the ability to sponsor various sections, while others have focused on booth space for exposure and interactivity.

HYTE in Collaboration with hololive English Unveils the New Limited-Edition Mori Calliope Y40 Bundle

HYTE, the PC components, peripherals, and lifestyle brand of iBUYPOWER, today, unveiled the new limited-edition Mori Calliope Y40 case and accessory bundle, in collaboration with hololive English, represented by the VTuber agency COVER Corporation.

HYTE's third case collaboration with hololive English and illustrator Rosuuri, depicts the famous VTuber, Mori Calliope, along with her mascot Death Sensei and scythe, Ricky, on the front and side panels of its Black Y40 PC case. Mori Calliope appears on the main side panel floating above a large skull hand, holding Ricky, surrounded by thorns, roses, and souls of the underworld reaching for her. On the front tempered glass, Mori Calliope appears in a closeup holding Death Sensei with her name in Japanese script descending the panel.

HYTE Nexus Portal NP50 Integrates, Cooling, Lighting, and Acoustic Management into a Single Device

The Nexus Portal NP50 by HYTE isn't just a fan+lighting controller. This is a fully integrated Arm processor-powered device that integrates control for several channels of addressable RGB LED lighting, PWM fan control, multi-zone temperature sensing, and noise sensing. The Nexus Portal application allows end users to find the perfect fan and lighting settings that take into account thermals and acoustics of the machine. The device tucks away into a 2.5-inch drive mount—ideally behind the motherboard tray—from where the various lighting and fan cables can be mounted to it. HYTE also showed off the PQ10 and PQ30 qRGB lighting strips, which provide 24-bit (True Color), and use the USB type-C based Nexus Link interface. The PQ10 is a 33 cm long, 20-diode array, while the PQ30 is a 1 m array with 63 diodes.

HYTE Keeb TKL Hands On: Possibly the Catchiest Keyboard Out there

The Keeb TKL by HYTE is possibly the most eye-catching keyboard designs at the 2023 Computex, probably because its design has callbacks to the iMac G4, with large acrylic frame elements. Unlike the G4, the Keeb actually puts its "glasshouse" to use with RGB LED lighting, particularly a 155-pixel qRGB. The keyboard uses Durock Creamy Yellow factory-calibrated linear switches, coupled with Durock V2 gold stabilizers. Finishing it is the double-shot shine-through PBT keycaps.

HYTE Thicc FT12 is a 120 mm Fan with Special Chops, Including its own Arm CPU

The HYTE Thicc FT12 is a stand-out at the company's booth at the 2023 Computex. It's probably the most feature-rich fan specs-sheet we've come across, all to justify its price of $80 for a 3-pack SKU. The 120 mm fan derives its name from its 32 mm thickness, which is a bit more than the 25 mm that's industry standard, and more than double the 15 mm slimline form-factor. The impeller has a liquid-crystal polymer coating that minimizes dust build-up over timeand improves airflow characteristics. The fan's motor has sensors that can detect airflow temperature, as well as the exact position of the impeller. The onboard electronics also has support for HYTE's Nexus Link unified interface over USB type-C (legacy adapter included). As a fan, the HYTE THICC FT12 has a speed-range between 500 to 2,000 RPM, and has zero-RPM capability. At its top speed, it pushes over 70 CFM of airflow, with over 3.3 mm H₂O static-pressure. The company didn't reveal noise figures, though. HYTE is backing the fan with a 6-year warranty.

HYTE Unveils its First All-in-One Liquid Cooler the THICC Q60

HYTE, the PC components, peripherals, and lifestyle brand of iBUYPOWER, today, announced its first all-in-one (AIO) liquid cooler, the THICC Q60. Designed with the largest LCD display panel on a liquid cooler, the Q60 looks to defy industry standards. Prominently mounted over the water block of the Q60 is a 5" ultra-slim IPS display with a 720 x 1280 resolution. Behind the back cover of the LCD screen is a 42-pixel qRGB array that diffuses through the frosted surface providing ambient lighting. Users can customize both the LCD screen and the qRGB array through HYTE's Nexus software for a personal touch.

"Processor manufacturers are racing to stay competitive," said Rob Teller, Product Director of HYTE. "They're pumping up TDPs to break boundaries and stretch performance limits. The existing coolers on the market are just not cutting it anymore. They're failing to match up, causing those promised clock speeds to stay frustratingly out of reach. The THICC Q60 unleashes your processor, boosting your performance to previously unthinkable levels. A powerful trio of Dual Harmonic Pumps, a 52 mm-Thick Heat Exchanger, and a pair of 32 mm-Thick FT12 fans create a cooling density that's potent, efficient, and amazingly quiet. This isn't just about upgrading your computing performance; this will redefine your digital experience."

HYTE Announces a Series of Powered by Nexus Components Including Keeb TKL

HYTE, the PC components, peripherals, and lifestyle brand of iBUYPOWER, today, announced the expansion of its software, Nexus, with a series of Powered by Nexus components using a new Nexus Link interface. Additionally, HYTE will also introduce a new powered by Nexus qRGB keyboard, Keeb TKL. HYTE's new Nexus Link interface for its Powered by Nexus components is a revolutionary new single cable standard, designed to drastically reduce cable management clutter and enabling two-way communication between the Nexus software and the hardware nodes. Nexus Link combines power, fan control, lighting control, and sensor data into a single connection. Further expanding the accessibility layer between the user and HYTE hardware, Nexus will enable never-before-seen qRGB capabilities and control for a variety of new third-party peripherals, creating a cohesive lighting universe.

"Our aim is to create a seamless loop of empathy and response between you and your technology," said Rob Teller, Product Director of HYTE. "Nexus adapts to your state of mind, reflecting your feelings within its digital capabilities. Keeb allows a tangible way to express those feelings, turning them into digital counterparts. Meanwhile, the Portal brings them back into the physical world, rendering your state of mind through the hardware. In essence, we're closing the gap between feeling and function, ensuring your tech isn't just a tool, but an understanding companion."

iBuyPower Trace Gaming Case and Peripherals at CES Hands On

At the 2023 International CES, the lifestyle PC case brand HYTE shared its booth with its parent brand iBuyPower, a leading prebuilt gaming PC vendor, which showed off a premium mid-tower case under its own marquee rather than under HYTE. The new iBuyPower Trace 7 Mesh can be purchased as a standalone case, or you can buy prebuilt gaming desktops featuring it. The ATX mid-tower features a conventional horizontally-partitioned layout with an airy mesh front-panel. The case is tested to support many of the newer-generation graphics cards with 3+ slot thickness and 16-18 cm height. Among the fan-vents included with the case are three 120 mm along the front, with room for a 360 mm radiator, two 120 mm top exhausts that can hold onto a 240 mm radiator, and a 120 mm rear exhaust.

Among the two new gaming peripherals released by iBuyPower are the Chimera K7 gaming keyboard, and the Chimera M7 gaming mouse. The two will be part of the Chimera KM7 combo, which can be added to your iBuyPower build, or sold piecemeal. The Chimera K7 is a membrane-type gaming keyboard with 24 RGB lighting zones that can be controlled via the HYTE Nexus software; while the Chimera M7 is a palm grip-optimized pseudo-ambidextrous wired mouse with an RGB diffuser that makes up the top grip. The HYTE Nexus software is used for fine-tuning the performance and lighting of this mouse.

HYTE Y40 Up Close: Truly a Next-Gen Case for Next-Gen Hardware

At first glance, the HYTE Y40 may seem like a short and stout Micro-ATX tower, but up close, it's actually an ATX mid-tower that just so happens to look stout, and ready for the latest generation of CPU cooling solutions and 4-odd slot graphics cards. The Y40 retains HYTE's essential design language of making sure the front-left panel seems like a contiguous glasshouse. The case is horizontally partitioned, with the bottom compartment having the PSU- and drive bays, while the upper compartment has a spacious motherboard tray. This is where things get very interesting.

The HYTE Y40 is unconventional in that all the 7 expansion slots of its motherboard tray are half-height (low-profile), while there are four full-height vertical slots, which is where you're supposed to install your graphics card. HYTE includes a PCI-Express 4.0 x16 riser with the case. All other expansion cards need to be half-height. Most aftermarket non-graphics add-on cards these days, such as WLAN cards, 10 GbE cards, USB/Thunderbolt cards, or even some sound cards, are half-height and include low-profile brackets anyway. The case is much longer than the motherboard tray itself, which opens up room for a 280 mm radiator mount along the plane of the motherboard tray. The Y40 offers clearance for graphics cards up to 4 slots thick, up to 94 mm tall, and up to 42.2 cm in length (the ASUS ROG Strix RTX 4090 should fit). There's also room for CPU coolers up to 18.3 cm in height.

HYTE Unleashes the Potential of its Unique Y60 Case Design with Touchscreens and Distro Plates

HYTE started out as a DIY retail channel brand for the unique case and peripheral designs of gaming PC builder iBuyPower, but has grown into a unique brand on its own. Their most iconic product, the Y60 case, stands out for its "corner plot" design, where the front-left corner of the case has been carved out into a corner-facing side. In most trims of the Y60, this would be a tempered glass panel; and some of the newer themed variants, this is an additional surface for air—either decals or stained-glass/prints. At the 2023 International CES, the company unlocked two unique uses for this corner panel.

The first of these is a touchscreen that spans the entire height of the panel, and connects to your graphics card like any other display, and takes up a USB header for the touch input. The possibilities for this screen are endless—scroll through Windows 11 Start widgets, use a hardware monitoring app, as a game HUD, or what have you. The second of these is a really groovy distro-plate + pump device designed by iBuyPower. You no longer need to cover the entire front-panel with one of these, can they can take up the corner panel. The coolant ports of the plate are optimally located for builds using this case. The company even designed HYTE branded fittings to go with these.

HYTE Launches New Y40 Mid Tower PC Case During CES 2023

HYTE, the PC components, peripherals, and lifestyle brand of iBUYPOWER, today, released its new mid-tower case, the Y40. Y40 is HYTE's second case to defy industry standards by removing the corner pillar and providing a completely unobstructed view of the inside of the case.

Continuing the design ID of its predecessor, the Y60, the HYTE Y40 will feature a two-piece panoramic tempered glass design for a clear view of the system, but in a more traditional PC case shape. The tempered glass side panel can easily be removed via a now tool-less tab located at the back of the panel while the front piece takes on a more stationary role. The tower form of Y40 will feel familiar to consumers yet, remains unique in both feature set and architecture.

The famous VTuber is depicted on the main side panel holding up one of her blades while clock cogs appear to float in the background. On the corner glass, Kronii's white snake, Boros, sits atop a cog floating above a golden clock while a chibi version of Kronii embracing her Kronies plushie is depicted on the front glass panel.
