AMD Namedrops EPYC "Venice" Zen 6 and EPYC "Verano" Zen 7 Server Processors

AMD at its 2025 Advancing AI event name-dropped its two next generations of EPYC server processors to succeed the current EPYC "Turin" powered by Zen 5 microarchitecture. 2026 will see AMD debut the Zen 6 microarchitecture, and its main workhorse for the server segment will be EPYC "Venice." This processor will likely see a generational increase in CPU core counts, increased IPC from the full-sized Zen 6 cores, support for newer ISA, and an updated I/O package. AMD is looking to pack "Venice" with up to 256 CPU cores per package.

AMD is looking to increase the CPU core count per CCD (CPU complex die) with "Zen 6." The company plans to build these CCDs on the 2 nm TSMC N2 process node. The sIOD (server I/O die) of "Venice" implements PCI-Express Gen 6 for a generational doubling in bandwidth to GPUs, SSDs, and NICs. AMD is also claiming memory bandwidth as high as 1.6 TB/s. There are a couple of ways they can go about achieving this, either by increasing the memory clock speeds, or giving the processor a 16-channel DDR5 memory interface, up from the current 12-channel DDR5. The company could also add support for multichannel DIMM standards, such as MR-DIMM and MCR-DIMMs. All said and done, AMD is claiming a 70% increase in multithreaded performance over the current EPYC "Turin," which we assume is comparing the highest performing part to its next-gen successor.

AMD Previews 432 GB HBM4 Instinct MI400 GPUs and Helios Rack‑Scale AI Solution

At its "Advancing AI 2025" event, AMD rolled out its new Instinct MI350 lineup on the CDNA 4 architecture and teased the upcoming UDNA-based AI accelerator. True to its roughly one‑year refresh rhythm, the company confirmed that the Instinct MI400 series will land in early 2026, showcasing a huge leap in memory, interconnect bandwidth, and raw compute power. Each MI400 card features twelve HBM4 stacks, providing a whopping 432 GB of on-package memory and pushing nearly 19.6 TB/s of memory bandwidth. Those early HBM4 modules deliver approximately 1.6 TB/s each, just shy of the 2 TB/s mark. On the compute front, AMD pegs the MI400 at 20 PetaFLOPS of FP8 throughput and 40 PetaFLOPS of FP4, doubling the sparse-matrix performance of today's MI355X cards. But the real game‑changer is how AMD is scaling those GPUs. Until now, you could connect up to eight cards via Infinity Fabric, and anything beyond that had to go over Ethernet.

The MI400's upgraded fabric link now offers 300 GB/s, nearly twice the speed of the MI350 series, allowing you to build full-rack clusters without relying on slower networks. That upgrade paves the way for "Helios," AMD's fully integrated AI rack solution. It combines upcoming EPYC "Venice" CPUs with MI400 GPUs and trim-to-fit networking gear, offering a turnkey setup for data center operators. AMD didn't shy away from comparisons, either. A Helios rack with 72 MI400 cards delivers approximately 3.1 ExaFLOPS of tensor performance and 31 TB of HBM4 memory. NVIDIA's Vera Rubin system, slated to feature 72 GPUs and 288 GB of memory each, is expected to achieve around 3.6 ExaFLOPS, with AMD's capabilities surpassing it in both bandwidth and capacity. And if that's not enough, whispers of a beefed‑up MI450X IF128 system are already swirling. Due in late 2026, it would directly link 128 GPUs with Infinity Fabric at 1.8 TB/s bidirectional per device, unlocking truly massive rack-scale AI clusters.

Acer to Share Game-Changing Stereo 3D Gaming Advancements with SpatialLabs at GDC 2023

Acer will be participating in the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2023 held from March 20-24 in San Francisco to share the latest innovations of its industry-leading SpatialLabs experience. It combines advanced eye-tracking cameras, a stereoscopic 3D display and stereo rendering capabilities to deliver immersive 3D experiences without the need for specialized glasses. With a click of a button, 2D visuals seem to pop out of their screens, giving designers, marketers, and other professionals a unique way of interacting with their creations in 3D views.

SpatialLabs TrueGame
Following its launch in 2021, Acer took it up a notch by bringing its glasses-free stereoscopic 3D technology to the world of gaming through the SpatialLabs TrueGame application. With a Predator Helios 300 SpatialLabs Edition laptop, or a SpatialLabs View display paired with a PC, users can enjoy the supported titles in their true 3D form, delivering immersive gaming experiences as envisioned by their developers. This is possible because games are mostly created with a three-dimensional world in mind as developers include information about depth in each scene and object they build. SpatialLabs leverages this already-existing information in order to present the games in stereoscopic 3D. A dedicated pre-configured profile is now available for each game title, among the 70+ modern and classic titles on launch, to offer players a seamless experience with their favorite games. More profiles for additional titles will be added on a continuous basis moving forward.

SpatialLabs TrueGame was designed for gamers who love to explore and lose themselves in immersive gameplay, serving as a medium to explore and experience new realities when they set off on their quests for treasure and glory.

The new update also includes 3D Sense, a collection of 3D stereo effect configurations to match the players' preferences in terms of visual details, effects, and 3D depth intensity. TrueGame allows the game to be presented in a way that is tailored for different players and continues to support game titles with new profiles added every month, including today's list of AAA titles and former top classics that users can enjoy in their full 3D glory.

Acer Offers Increased Laptop GPU Performance Using Firmware Update

Total Graphics Power, or TGP, is a way of constraining the power of a GPU to a certain level, so it can adjust to the use case. In laptops and other mobile systems, TGP can be dynamically adjusted using technologies such as NVIDIA Dynamic Boost and AMD Smart Shift, which bring unused CPU power envelope to the GPU and allowing it to boost to much higher frequencies. By boosting to higher frequencies, the total power output of GPU increased, and the cooling system of a laptop can only handle a limited amount of heat. That is why these technologies from AMD and NVIDIA allow the CPU to reduce its heat output and offer the GPU more room for boosting and power output.

Acer has today announced that the company will offer a simple firmware update for their Nitro 5, Helios 300, Triton 300, and Triton 300 SE gaming laptops, which is going to boost the TGP of NVIDIA graphics card present in these systems anywhere from 5-30 Watts. There is a nicely compiled list available on the ComputerBase website that highlights the exact power increase for a specific model. If you happen to own one of these models, you can download the latest firmware update from Acer's website here.

Acer Updates Predator Triton and Helios Series Gaming Notebooks
