ViewSonic Showcases First 120Hz 22-inch LCD Display at NVISION 2008

ViewSonic, best known for its iPod loving LCD monitors, has demonstrated its first 120Hz desktop LCD technology today at NVIDIA's NVISION 08 event in San Jose, California. The 22-inch ViewSonic VX2265wm prototype delivers exactly twice the refresh rate of most current LCDs (60Hz) and eliminates the blurring, ghosting, and other side effects that usually occur during fast-moving scenes. The 120Hz VX2265wm claims to have a response time of 3ms Motion Picture Response Time (MPRT), a 1,000:1 contrast ratio, 300 nits of brightness and 2x2W stereo speakers. "ViewSonic continues to deliver innovative technology that leads and supports the growing trends and demands in digital entertainment," said Jeff Volpe, vice president of Global Brand and Emerging Technologies, ViewSonic. "The 120Hz technology will deliver superb front-of-screen performance and will drive new standards in desktop entertainment igniting the next evolution in digital viewing capabilities." The first displays with ViewSonic's 120Hz technology are expected later in the year at select resellers, retailers and etailers. Pricing is not yet available.

NVIDIA Launches First Emerging Companies Summit at NVISION '08

NVIDIA Corporation, the world leader in visual computing technologies, today announced the Emerging Companies Summit, a two-day conference on August 26-27, 2008 in San Jose, California, aimed squarely at entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and investment bankers who are focused on learning more about the visual computing industry. The Emerging Companies Summit, sponsored by Cooley Godward Kronish LLP, Morgan Stanley, and RR Donnelley will be held at the NVISION 08 conference in San Jose, California, and include tracks focusing on CUDA and high-performance computing; visual computing; lifestyle computing; and gaming.

NVIDIA to host Guinness World Record attempt by gamers at NVISION '08

LAN Party gaming will reach a new level during a Guinness World Record-setting attempt at the NVISION 08 event on August 25 in San Jose, California. The aim of the event is to make history as the world's "Longest Non-Stop LAN Party."

The goal for the Guinness World Record is for a dedicated team of gamers to play video games continuously for 36 hours (10 minute breaks are allowed for every 60 minutes of continuous gaming). If the record is achieved, the participating team members will receive numerous prizes, including a commemorative medal, custom gear, gift cards, and of course, world recognition. The attempt will take place in a special, reserved section of the NVISION 08 GeForce LAN Party.
