NVIDIA to host Guinness World Record attempt by gamers at NVISION '08

LAN Party gaming will reach a new level during a Guinness World Record-setting attempt at the NVISION 08 event on August 25 in San Jose, California. The aim of the event is to make history as the world's "Longest Non-Stop LAN Party."

The goal for the Guinness World Record is for a dedicated team of gamers to play video games continuously for 36 hours (10 minute breaks are allowed for every 60 minutes of continuous gaming). If the record is achieved, the participating team members will receive numerous prizes, including a commemorative medal, custom gear, gift cards, and of course, world recognition. The attempt will take place in a special, reserved section of the NVISION 08 GeForce LAN Party.

Gamers who are serious about the attempt and have what it takes to handle a GeForce LAN Guinness World Record seat at NVISION 08 should visit this page.

sounds fun i know id love to do it me and my buddys all 14-20 of us lan every few months and pull 24+ hours easy......but idk about this...i mean its wicked cool and im really excited etc...but im also pretty sure its mad nhealthy..i mean seriously....who will need to break the record next time? it would probably be like 48hours....and if anyone knows anything about the human body you know that this starts to get unhealthy fast...after 72 hours of no sleep the human body can just die....it does happen

sounds intense - longest me and a friend have gone is 17 hours on, please forgive me, runescape. Was good fun mind, but i was exhausted and in pain after JUST 17 hours - imagine what 36 would do to the human body.

shoot used to do this on original cs all the time. granted a few breaks for bathroom and snacks. this should be a breeze albeit incredibly unhealthy. but hey they make residents do it at hospitals all the time.

36 hours :p not much really since at the army they can have you doing stuff for that long without sleep, at least they did at my work experience.

I remember a LAN last year where I spent 36 hours. Very few breaks, I wasn't even hungry. I carried a boxful of Mars and Snickers, ended up eating just 5~6.

It was fun. Too bad, Guinness wasn't there to turn it into a record. :(

Im no gamer but it dosent seem as hard as people are making it. You get 10 min every hour for a break, so if you game 6 hours you get a 60min break.

They even bring food/drink to you..throw in some peanut butter cups, Coke and a Hamburger every now and then I would do it..

I can already hear heads slamming the keyboards during the last few hours ^^

I was at GeForce LAN 2.0 in 2005. It was a 7800GTX and BF 2 launch party. It was the bomb. $25 for admittance and got BF2 for free. It was only 1 day though. Paid for GeForce LAN 3 but didn't make it. Made GeForce LAN 4, CRYSIS launch event. $35 for 3 days of LAN and food and free CRYSIS. Another kick arse time. :rockout: I can understand the idea of free LAN's is good, but let me tell you, you WOULD NOT be dissipointed with a nVidia Corporate LAN. If you live with in driving distance of the LAN location, I think you would be bummed out if you didnt go. I was sorely bummed for not making GeForce LAN 3.

I am about 200 miles away for San Jose. I reserved my room, now off to but my ticket, and to save $20 now.

I'm too far.... L.A. never has fun stuff like that going on...The only thing that's decent about it is that Newegg and EVGA are down here...Other than that this city sucks
